Default 06 rsx trouble

Posting this for a friend.

They are having trouble with their 2006 rsx, seems when they quick shift into another gear say from first to second the car just loses power and wont accelerate. The car has no trouble accelerating through first gear, nor from a roll on. The acura dealers replaced all the fuel componets and the throttle body...? i dont know why exactly but hey whatever. And the problem (as should be expected lol) still exists. Any of you rsx members ever have this happen? The acura boys at the dealership say this is "natural rsx behavior". Which i know is bs, im thinking maybe a sensor or something in the drive train is messing up. Any help would be awesome.

What exactly do you mean loses power? Is the check engine light on? When he is upshifting what rpm is he landing in?

it just falls on its face almost like when you shift below 2,000. Except there shifting at 2500 and above. Sorry for the word choice. The car was purchased brand new in 06 and is just recently having these problems. The dealership is giving them the run around. The check engine light is not on.

Why would he shift below 2k rpms lol. A stock rsx doesnt come alive until 5800 rpms. Is vtec engaging? Has he ever revved it out to redline and shifted throught the gears?

lol, he doesnt im just saying thats what the car feels like when you quick shift into another gear. Were both puzzled. Im thinking maybe a sensor is not working correctly or something is wrong in the drivetrain.

i doubt there's anything wrong with it..

shifting that low will draw very little power from it... Unless you mean he shifts into 2, lets it in... and floors the gas pedal and absolutely nothing happens... then you have something wrong..

maybe a TPS is bad? i dont know

from 1st to 2nd, shift between 2k-3k rpm that should do the trick.

already tried shifting at 2500 and 3000 and it still does it. The car even did it with the acura guys driving. After they replaced all the parts concerning fuel they changed out the trottle body. The car still does it and thats when they said it was "normal" and nothings wrong with it.

The main question we need to ask is, is this a recent change in the car's behavior? Or is this something he has been complaining about since he got the car?

The K series really doesnt have much pull until ~3500rpm where it starts to pick up. BUT, if there is a problem, and the dealer is giving you crap, goto another dealer. If they both wont do anything about it, call NA Honda... I used to have the number somewhere. I'm sure its on the website http://www.honda.com

1-800-999-1009. Ask to be switched to the Acura side. I usually shift around 2500Rpm's, I've never felt a loss of power, not that it pulls hard, but it's what you expect in low RPM's from a high revving engine. How does it respond when shifting after say, 6k?

the car never had this problem when they purchased it brand new. It started sufacing in late 2007 around december. Basically it just falls on its face and has become a safety problem because for those few moments after the shift, theyve almost been rear ended several times. It only seems to happen after a quick shift. There are no problems after words. Seems to be some type of "communication" problem between the engine and the tranny perhaps. Which leads me to think its a sensor. Is there a sensor on the rsx that is directly relevent to communication between enigine and transmission?

No only sensors on a type-s tranny is the VSS, back-up light, and Reverse lockout solenoid.

Once again, how does the car feel when you WOT it up til redline and "quick shift"?? Are there any mods on the car if so what are they?

they decided to just give acura another shot (at another dealer) and then if that fails they will call that number you guys provided. Since that was there decision i guess we can lock this up! Unless anyone else has had this problem and are seeking help.

either way thanks for the help, and have fun with this thread!
