ECU Questions Please Help
I have a 99 civic ex, and im not sure how i can tell what kind of ECU it has. can somone tell me what ECU i have, and what what kind of new ecu should i get? thanks
there should be a sticker with numbers and letters looking something like this
xxxxx-P2P-xxxx
The middle characters is what ECU you have. Unless your current one if fucked, you don't need a new one. A "chipped ECU" won't do **** for you

Has to do with it being where it was manufactured (US, Japan, etc) and if its from an automatic or manual. Don't ask me what each number means cuz I don't have it memorized.
37820-P2P-XXX
37820 = honda's generic part number indicating it's an ECU
P2P = generic number for an OBD2 D16Y8's ECU
the last set of three digits means the version/trans type/domestic market the ECU is for.
But unlike OBD1 there is no good way to break down the digits.
If you list what those last three digits are I can tell you what trans, trim, and other models that came with the identical ECU.
**edit**
for the 99 EX...
A12 = manual trans
A92 = auto trans
