Default $10k project Civic

Right now im just doing all my reach making part list with prices ect. And I came across some question im just not to sure of and here they are. My budjet on this project is $10,000 If there are any other topic talking about this kinda stuff send a link my way to help out on my research

Project car 6th gen 1998 Honda Civic Ex Coupe

1) I have three different engines im thinking about putting in but dont really know which would be the best. Choices are H22, B18C, or K20. I heard the H22 in the civic makes it handle sloppy
2)Is it worth a extra 1k to get a LSD tranny?
3)How much boots can a B18C handle or stock internals?

What Im looking for out of my car: I need handling and power

I would like to see over 350WHP or some good 1/4 times. Im more into auto x then anything so handling to me is important. My car will be used as a daily driver so I need to build something that will be there for me everytime the key is turned.

Most setups that see 350 wheel won't be very dependable as a DD

Yeah thats what im afraid of. Ive seen some videos of just swaped H22 and it seems like they do verry well in the civic since there curb weight is around 2k but I head it makes the car handle like a old big body

Piston/rod GSR with a simple turbo setup and a good tune will easily hit your power goal and be reliable. Hell, i made 315whp on my stock GSR for 2 years without any problems...that's a cheap and easy solution to your problem

Agree! Go B18C1....Piston, rod, decent turbo set up with a good tune and youll be set. Throw some nice suspension on it and youll still have money left over! voula....there's your beast!

yes! i would def. have your block bored at least .20 over honed, decked as well for longivity! go with JE, or Wiseco for pistons! built to last!

I find it kinda contradictory that the OP wants 350 whp yet is trying to build an autox car. To get 350 to the wheels you will need to turbo it, and with the turbo comes, in my opinion, an insufficient amount of low-end torque required for a successful autox car. And if you do go with a small enough turbo to achieve a desirable low-end, the car is going to torque steer in the turns like no one's business. Set your power goals lower and concentrate on chassis stiffening and a sharp suspension setup. Truth be told, the car doesn't win an autocross, the driver does.

well ill just say that the h22 only weighs about like 30 more lbs than a b16. so i dont see why it would handle sloppy

if i was u id do a b18c1 with lsd and peakboost get omnipower suspension or ksports full race traction bar and tune it... get arp head studs head gasket

i run 410 whp daily driven so it can be done.... if you have enough money id do the rods pistons and valve springs and retainers

If my memory serves me correct, its not the weight issue as much as the placement. I think I read something about the angle that the H22 mounts in at can have an adverse effect on the handling.

Can some1 vouch for this??

why dont you get a h22 swap and take out ps, ac, relocate battery to trunk, and get a CF hood. that will totally make the car lighter up front

As far as I'm aware, this is correct. The engine is definitely tilted backwards, towards the firewall.

i agree with the H22 guys. Theres a local in Lex ky that auto x's his H2B and he whoops ***. whats the catch? sus. setup. your HP goals arent unreasonable, but your purpose is. The sloppy driving thing is a myth as far as H22 goes. H2b setub with a properly done sus. setup will make your car a demon for both drag and auto x. my .02

good luck to a local!

Wat happened after the two years? The only thing you change on the internals was the pistons and rods?

The H22 handling sloppy all depends on the mounts, my old ebay kit made the motor tilt back a little but now with my avid billet mounts the motor sits perfectly straight with no movement whatsoever,,, I can hang right behind my friends si with full coilovers through the twisties and out TQ him coming out of the turns and thats running a stock ex suspension. With a good set of coilovers and some more suspension goodies id have him the entire time.

Well im not going to compete in either Auto X or Drag. Well my plans arent to as of this moment but I said im into Auto X just for the handling purposes. My goals is to have over 350Whp as a DD and still have really good handling

now, im as big of a honda fan as the next guy, but with that said a 350 whp daily driven civic just isn't a reasonable idea. why do you want so much power for a DD?

x2

200 whp is MORE then enough to get you motivated / get you in trouble. 350 is just a tire destroyer.

So it sounds like you just want a fast DD with no intentions of auto xing or dragging. U really dont need that much power from a DD 250hp would probably do u good.

This sounds like one of those "tell me what to buy" threads. Read up!!
