Default 7thgen civic VS rsx

when i posted a few weeks ago about me beating a RSX no one believed me! I have a question what does a RSX type-s run? I dont find it so hard to believe i did! I have i/e and a 60 shot (and of course i sprayed)! I ran a 15.26 and i live way up in utah!! If i was at sea level i would be running mid to high 14's (hopefully) well i aint trying to say my car is better or anything!

Well if you really beat the guy, who cares what other people think? You know the truth and that's what really matters. Besides, if it was a crappy driver in the S, the story could have easily happened. A stock RSX-S will hit mid/high 14's with a great driver... most rags have it hitting 15 flat.

the rsx is quick, at englishtown every rsx type s w/ an i/e runs 14.7-14.9, but with an i/e and 60 shot i really wouldn't be braging that i beat a stock rsx.

Its just a 7th gen...you need nitrous to beat anything. D17A2 let me throw up now.

Didnt want to get your *** handed to you huh?

Only 7th gen that will be of any importance will be htowns type s hybrid...other than that screw the EM2s.

Not to be mean or anything but a 7th gen civic with i/h/e and a 60 shot only hitting a 15.2?? uummm.. I wouldnt be braging about that bro. Im not a good driver yet but I managed to pull a 15.oo on some shitty tires stock. I could have done better but I messed up the launched bad.. hehe I bounced bad, looked like I had hydralics. hehehe Im going to try again soon and see what I get. But to say you beat a base rsx and you sprayed isnt something I would brag about. Thats kind of like me saying...." hey I beat a geo metro with my type S" you see it just sounds funny.. Well good luck with you next "BIG" victory...

They're all garbage.

Not even real Hondas in my book. I'd rather ride a bicycle with a flat tire than drive a Honda with strut suspension.

first of all i have never seen so much negative ****!! I live way the hell up in utah!! WRX's run in the 16's, maybe high 15's. GSR's I/H/E maybe mid 16's. Let me come down to sea level and see what i run i bet i would be deep in to the 14's. I would already be in the 14's if i could get my sixty foots down. So don't hate, congradulate(sp??). I am not getting on here to fight or stir up ****.
And for the suspension! How many have actually rhad a ride or drove a 7th gen? i would bet money that most of you havent!!! So don't push change away. Where would we be now with out i-vtec? Things change so get use to it!!!
I do admit the 7thgen had no R&D time but they still have potential. Nice body lines IMO and a whole lot of potential. In a way the RSX is a...brother to the civic. So dont knock it.

Making power.

i-VTEC is an impediment to making power. If you weren't an ignorant ricer you'd already know that. Forget the overblown hype. Do you know even what VTC (the "i" in i-VTEC) does?

VTC is touted as a Godsend for midrange tourque, and in reality it could be. But it isn't. The way Honda uses VTC in the K20 is as an emissions reducer. VTC is used to create extreme valve overlap in the lower and mid RPM ranges to recirculate exhaust gasses, much like a conventional EGR valve. This causes the unburned fuel in the exhaust gasses to be re-burned in the next combustion cycle and thus reduces unburned carbohydrons in the exhaust stream. Admirable, yes, but it also dilutes the intake charge of the next combustion cycle! This means less than ideal performance It also resluts in dismal throttle response.

"Where would we be without i-VTEC?" Go sit in the corner, dumbass. Your car doesn't even have i-VTEC.

Where would we be without double wishbone suspension? Oh yeah, we'd have crappy-handling cars that drive like they're on quaaludes.

I think u under estimate the 7th gen civic really bad.. it doesn't handle bad at all. My best friend owns a 2k1 civic with koni adjustables,coilovers,17x17.5 rims, and a set of kuhmo 712's. It handles alot like a go kart. still tuning the suspension to where he wants it. We race it at autocross and we never finish last in our class and we race rx7's (1st and 2nd gens n/a's) and miata's.. anyone that has ever been to a autocross knows csp is one of the hardest classes to race in because of these cars.

I own a 2001. So I think I would know about it. It was the worst choice I ever made...the only reason I havent gotten rid of it because its sorta a nice beater in bad weather.

Performance wise it sux. The 7G will never come close to the 6G in terms of performance capability. If my Si wouldnt have had an untimely death, I dont think my 7G would still be here

and the 7G does not have i-VTEC. If you have an EX you have shitty VTEC-E...made for economy. I agree with one dude, go sit in the corner.

i don't see ur point i just argued that it is a fine handling car. and his car will performe better than a stock rsx at autocross...mostly due to the fact that the rsx comes with a horrible set of tires.

oh .. it looked like u had replied... and i said his car.. which doesn't have firestones it has kuhmo 712's.. i am not sayin a civic is better than a rsx. i would rather start with a rsx for my base but the 2k1 civic isn't a **** box either. it handles great out on the track.

WOW! You guys a pretty rough on each other!

I have a 7thgen and I love the car. The platform is no worse than the older civics. The problem I run into is that the aftermarket hasn't cought up yet, which really sucks. I autoX and drag and hope to soon run the car on a track, and with little aftermarket support I have to improvise in terms of mods. So far I've managed to get 143hp out of my "crappy" d17 with pleanty of room for improvement. 17 more ponies and I'm running base RSX hp numbers (no NOS).

As for the RSX, I love that car to. I wouldn't mind having one, at least it would be easier to mod. My girl has one and she loves it. But if we are looking for a car to have, well it would have to be a CW ITR.

Anyway, my 2 pennies

143 huh, got a dyno to back that up? Or is that just a guestimate?

The new Si strains to put 147 down stock, and its got a K20A3.

I/H/E are not going to bring you up to par with a K motor, and that OEM kit dosnt add any ponies. So howd you come up with that figure?
