Stolen CRX Alert - Austin TX
Woke up this morning to find my CRX gone...
'91 CRX DX - no sunroof. Plate # 154-SXW - Texas plates - Burgundy metallic paint, with the clearcoat starting to peel in some places. Tinted windows, with the tint peeling on the door windows. Currently rolling on mismatched wheels - 3 Integra "mesh" wheels, and one cheapie Borbet 5-spoke alloy on the left rear (had a blowout last week, and threw on the closest wheel I had on hand).
Interior - black. '90-'91 Si seats, with the red pinstriping. Lots of blond dog hair from me toting on of my mutts around with me every day...
It was stolen sometime between 11:00pm Saturday nite and 6:00am Sunday morning. I don't have any real hope of getting the car back in one piece, if at all, but I *AM* offering a cash reward if anyone can put me onto the person who took it. All I need is a name...
If you're in Austin and see a maroon CRX, PLEASE get the tag number if you can. I've only ever seen one other maroon one around town, and I know for a fact that it got wrecked a couple years ago, because the owner called me to see if I wanted it for parts. If you see it, please please PLEASE call me - 512-826-1141. Or call the cops. Whoever took it better *pray* that the cops find them before I do!
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Thanks, gang - if it follows most of the trends, it's either already IN San Antonio, or will be soon. Seems like most of the stolen cars from the Austin area end up being found in or around San Antonio - usually in pieces, or as stripped-out shells.
I've written the car off. She's gone. I'll never see her again in one piece.
There MIGHT be a chance that some of you could come across some of her parts for sale. Keep your eyes and ears open - craigslist, classifieds, boards, etc. Someone trying to sell THREE of the Integra LS "mesh rims might be a good candidate... or someone trying to sell the old-skool Honda "SuperSound" speaker grills and the Honda graphic equalizer with its special center console piece. Or just someone parting out a Torino Red (burgundy) CRX...
Thanks again, and good lookin' out.

Sorry to hear man, I'll keep a eye out in North Austin. Get any pic's for a reference? And to think all of my friends at work think I'm paranoid because I go and check on my car every 2-3 hours.
Here's one pic:

No crazy graphics, no bumper stickers, no real identifying marks that stand out - except for the mismatched wheel on the left rear.
24 hours later, still no news at all. I've scoured the area, by car and on foot, and found nothing. Not looking good at all.

David (FireAnt): If it's VTECnicians, I already did. Anyone and everyone you can get the word out to, please do.
VTECnicians put my name & number on their white board, and are on the lookout for my parts. They seemed to think the Hybrid Transmission in the car might be the most likely thing that someone would try to unload on them. They're the ones who're building Kevin's hybrid - with the LSD that I just sold him!
I haven't really had any dealings with them in the past; they were starting up just around the time I was taking a bit of a step back from the whole scene. I haven't heard anything bad about their shop, though - and in the Honda scene, that's sayin' something. Nice guys.
Keep your eyes open, and I'll do the same. I'd really hate to think it was someone in my neighborhood, since I've gone out of my way to help out CRX owners in my area, loaning tools, manuals, helping out when I can, and even giving away parts just to get them out of my garage. I don't like to think that this is how I'd be repaid for trying to support fellow CRX lovers, but the world is indeed a expletiveed-up place. I pretty much have about zero faith left in the goodness of my fellow man. Anne Franck might have written that, "in spite of it all, I still believe that people are good," but my thinking is that she just didn't live long enough to realize that this world is populated with an awful lot of people who just desperately need to have their skulls crushed with cinder blocks.
The yellow CRX is indeed under lock, key, and electronic disabling, among other things. And this week it's going to be moved, indoors, possibly semi-permanently! I might have to talk to you about a couple kill-switch ideas... Speaking of which, maybe I could wire one into the battery, and make it a REAL "Kill switch". Just sayin'...

to thieves, I'm going to try to contact this one guy I almost bought some part from but he seemed shady and so did the parts. If he has anything, I'll let you know
Yep, I was thinking of Nick and the gang at vtechnicians... they are all good guys, they just need to get a more secure location.
I can definitely set you up with a killa switch... I'm living in Paige now (think way east) big workshop-style garage and lots of fresh air. Let me know.

Paige... How far east? 'Cuz I'm east m'self!
Still autocrossing? Heard they had one yesterday. One of these days I'm gonna get off my **** and actually get down there!

Yep, still dodging cones. I was out there yesterday. There will be another this weekend at SAR then the following weekend again at AT&T Center.
Paige is just on the other side of Bastrop, but still in the pines. If you've ever taken 21 out to Texas A&M, then you've been through Paige. I still commute downtown most days of the week.

....
Good luck man, I hope you get it back, in one piece hopefully, or just get it back any way you can.
