Feb. 23, 2008: V8 Supercar driver Ashley Cooper crashes into a concrete barrier at the Clipsal 500, causing severe head trauma and swelling of the brain. The 27-year-old remains in critical condition following the high-speed wreck.

He's lucky he was driving a right hand drive. I bet it would have had a worse outcome if it were left hand drive.

spectators/track workers lose lawsuits often, drivers' families don't file. truth.
most of the track time i've done....usually have to sign a wavier.

i love watching V8 supercars. it's a shame that there will be one-less driver... i hate stories like this. i thought i'd just pop open this thread and see a bad accident where someone was going to walk away.. sadly, my thoughts were wrong..

I'm wondering if head restraints like HANS, etc. are required for that series. He had massive head injuries from what I've read. I'm not familiar with those cars but does the driver sit on the port (left side/USA driver's side) or starboard side of the car?
