Default noob saying hello , with a GROUND CONTROL question

hi all , a lil intro , im from Dublin Ireland and drive a jdm 1.5x crx in flint black , which i was the first owner of from when it was imported . the car is in the body shop at the moment having the years of dings and dents sorted out and a full respray .i am trying to do something a little different with the car , looking for products that aren't readily available here in Ireland , im on a tight budget so cost is an issue , ive previously sourced an elemental designs sound system for the car , ive ordered a tenrai full stainless steel exhaust , ill change the muffler asap .next is suspension .. i want to get a full GC coil over set up and new shocks etc , the car will be my daily driver with the very odd track day , part numbers ,spring rates etc any help and any advice is appreciated , as getting this info over here is very difficult , cheers in advance BRIAN .

Hey Brian.

The 1.5x was twin carb wasn't it? They're fun to play with. But a pain in the backside if they're not tuned correctly.

Im also pretty sure all twin carby models had a 4-2-1 header which means you will get negligible gains from any exhaust you fit.

I have heard of replacing the stock air filter with two single bike filters which sit in the mouth of the carburetter though. Apparently people have noticed gains with that, and im sure it would sound much better as well.

Good luck with your car.

Steve.

Are we talking Gen 1 or 2 CRX?

As ~sp33~ said there's not much to be had from the 1.5 Carby engine,

Best would be considering either a D or B series conversion with your coin before purchasing bits like I/H/E.

gen2 , with the carb and filter mods , you can get 130bhp ( dyno proven ) which is about he same as a stock sir , would prob cinsider an engine swap further down the line .

I'd give the Tein Super Street with Pillowball mounts a thought.

Spring Rates:
8 kgf/mm 450 lbs/in Front

4 kgf/mm 220 lbs/in Rear

Height Adjustment Range
Max/Min(mm/inch)
-8.0 / -0.31 to -79.0 / -3.11 Front
-2.0 / -0.08 to -70.0 / -2.76 Rear

Works with their EDFC so you can change your damping rates on the fly. It's a sweet setup that I'm considering for my own car, once I find an EF Si that is.

Good luck.

how would the tein set up compare price wise in the states , as tein are major bucks over here ,( ireland ) .
im only learning but there are a few tricks you can do with the carbs , cuting the spring etc that make a great diferance .

The Tein Super Street with Pillowball mounts is $1340 USD for the 89-91 CRX/Civic

There is an ECU. Its actually PGM-Carb. Electronic Carb injection.

The SIR had 160hp, but the Si model had around 130hp.

Stock, the twin carb model developed 72kw. Which is on the shy side of 105hp, 13hp MORE then the US dpfi 1.5L

Carbs ftmfw.
