Default shaving valve cover

hey fellas,

thinking of shaving the lettering off of my f22b1 valve cover, just would like to know if i can do it safely(without breaking through the metal). may sound like a dumb question, but tried doing this to my b18a valve cover, and had disasterous results. haha, about 90% of the way through the letters, i went through the damn thing. on me for not checking. $20 dollars and a new valve cover later, i've learned my lesson.

so, anyone who's done this please let me know.

thanks,
-Chris

how the hell did you go through the valve cover?

I use a DA with 80 then 180 grit ususally. The last time I used a air grinder to get most then a flat board with 80 grit.

yea. got the letters 99% off and noticed a hairline crack, pressed down with my finger, and that whole gash fell through.

oh well, at least it was only a $20 expletive-up.

wow that was dumb to a whole nother degree...when you sand it your just trying to get it to a uniforme levelthen you can paint it yourself or take it to a shop and have em paint it(remeber to gloss looks sic)...the benifits are looks cool..has a little originality, I've had friends do graffitti pieces on the valve covers, people doing the same colors in the same crews..just style and originality
