IDLE HELP, WITH B16 EK!!!
The car is a 97 ek,with a second gen b16a...ok so my cars IDLE keeps jumping from 1.5k rpms to 2.5k...everything else is fine while driving NO bogging or any sort of missfire... theres NO check engine light on.Ive checked the vacuum hoses but it appears everything is where it is supposed to be...(there is one hose loose on a caniser in the middle of the firewall, it says purge on it and the hose is hanging loose, it does have a hose calmp on it, not quite sure what that is or where it connects?)...has anybody ever had this problem? or know what would cause a jumping idle? if anybody has a vacuum diagram that would also help...any help is appreciated!

The purge hose goes to the charcoal canister located on the passenger side of the firewall.
Plug that in.
Buy some sensor and rubber safe throttle body or intake cleaner. Spray a little bit around your intake manifold and vacuum lines while the car is running. If the idle goes up, you found a vacuum leak.
Clean the IAC. Take the 2 12mm bolts off....spray some sensor and rubber safe throttle body cleaner in there.
Re attach it. Turn the car on. Spray some more TB cleaner in the ports for the IAC in the throttle body. Rev the car up to keep it alive...spray little amounts.
If it still persists, then there's a procedure for re-setting idle.
Turn on car.
Unplug IAC. The idle should dip down considerably.
Set the idle screw so that the idle is at around 600RPM.
Replug the IAC back in.
Turn off car.
Turn on car.
There will be a CEL since you unplugged the IAC.
If the idle is correct, either reset the CEL or unplug the neg. battery cable for 30 seconds.
Done.

The other end should go somewhere on the intake manifold. If your motor is OBD1, there may not be a port for it, though.
I also forgot to mention the FITV.
to the guy who mentioned it.
The problem could also be air bubbles in your coolant.
