Default 96-00 2dr. civic coupe

hello honda-tech fans. I am new to the website but have been on here for 4 months or so. I am in the middle of finding a honda civic coupe between the years of 96-00, and i have been wondering how strong are the civic coupe uni-body's? What suspension upgrades are needed for normal street driving? My goal in finding this car is turning it into a street, strip car. I want to turbo it and my horsepower goal is 300 H.P., what would you suggest for suspension?

thanks, let me know what you think. suggestions will be appreciated.

no one is really going to reply to such a vague idea. there are many ways to create your beast...but its up to you to find the right car.

i personally like hatchbacks because of its light body.

There is a lot that can be done with a coupe. Just start searching and pick what you like.

IMO, I would always take a 99-00 coupe over a hatchback of those same years. But 92-95 hatchbacks on the other hand..

I personally prefer the coupes over the hatches. I like the long body and the factory power options.

I can admit that in stock form, the coupe will toss it's *** out very easily. It's pretty sudden when it happens too. It seems fine, and then just breaks loose.

The next project will probably be a hatch though... just because I like some of the things I could do to one, and my boyfriend has a hatch. So it'd be neat to put both of our ideas into one instead. It'd be more of a daily driver style than anything though.

Why 300 horsepower? Anything to base that off of?

The reason I put this post on here is to find what suspension upgrades I need like Strut tower bars, lower arm bar, rear stabilizer bar, underbraces...etc. Just let me know because I want to make my honda body the strongest it can be, or are they strong enough already?

They are strong, but they flex under heavy loads. Chassis stiffening is more what you are after. Chassis braces, strut tower bars, cage etc etc. The more you add the stiffer it will be. What you will "need" depends on you overall goals.

Can you explain why you need a super stiff chassis for only 300 hp?
