Possible to track Memory Fab or F1spec seats?
I've been looking into seats a lot recently. At first I was set on a lower priced seat (Buddy club/Memory fab/ f1spec). But after talking to a few guys, they say that the cheaper ones would flex during hard usage. I have been looking into getting a BRIDE Zetal III a lot not. Would the few hundred be better spent or not?
I would like it if any of you guys who track your memory fab seats to post up how they perform.

i ran a BC wide for a while with no issues, and 2 of my friends have the f1 spec and the memory fab stuff and like them. find some fellows who own what your looking for and take a seat.
i now use an OMP seat.

with nasa, if that is who you are doing your HPDE stuff with, a race seat requires at least a roll bar. And a race seat that isn't FIA approved needs one of these,

I used to have the memoryfab s68's. I liked them alot for both daily and track usage, held me in great. There was a minor amount of flex, but nothing ridiculous. After i got rid of those i had a momo start seat which was very rigid and had better lateral support. Not as nice for daily driving though.

as an instructor, i wouldn't get in such a car.
edit: expired fia seat, sure. non-fia w/o brace, no.

i used to run a memory fab seat and loved it. very supportive, it would flex a little on off angle situations (with the body) when i had alot of pressure from my legs, but nothing that would make me steer clear of them. it also lived through a terrible street crash, and in my opinion, saved my life! ill def. be buying another one when that time comes around again.

F1spec seats suck, you basically get what you pay for. The seat has soo much flex its useless. MFab ones are better, they are stronger and quality is pretty nice as well. I daily drive with a s58 seat and its comfortable and i do hpde's with my recaro spg pro racer which i love. Fits like a glove and crazy lateral support that i need. Put some money down and get a used Recaro SPG for around 600.

Momo start is a nice seat and all, but get ready to start (pun intended) some back pain. Its somewhat uncomfortable. My cobeau forza was hella more comfy and just as supportive.

i do not daily drive the car and it gets driven maybe 3 days out of the week during the summer, so i think i could handle it. Ive been looking at the momo supercup which has optional lumbar support, leg support, and back support/cushion, and i confirmed with momo that the dimensions between the super cup and start are very close, so do you think any of these items would help in the comfort department?
Why are you wanting a "JDM" brand of seat? if you are wanting to use it for track and or street get a seat that has been tested so that in the event of an accident you will have a better chance the seat will not crack, splinter, or just fall apart.
Look into Sparco, Corbeau,OMP, racetech, etc. the seats can be had for about the same price. and if you shop around you can get more for your money.

im here if you have any questions you may have.. ive also autox'd and tracked my car w/ a memoryfab seat both the S68 and S58 and have never had an issue! there is a bit of flex but it was never when racing, it was only when the car was sitting still and i was pushing with my back about as hard as i could. either way.. thanxx for the kind words above and let me know if you have any questions!

I would be interested in knowing this too. ^^^
On 67: Some series require an approved racing seat. It is strongly recommend that a racing
seat be installed in all vehicles. A racing seat is of solid design; not “tube and clothâ€
designs commonly found in passenger cars.
It's basically saying that some events require it, anyone want to chime in on this?

you will likely to be able to run, but it is very much frowned upon. it is up to an instructor's discretion if he wants to get in your car, as it is unsafe. if an instructor doesn't want to get in your car, you're gonna have a bum weekend.
f1spec buckets are top notch, I had them for about a year on my DD and love em
they make kevlar buckets and custom fittet seats
get the bride seat rails for installation and weld them down for best results
for certified seats, cant go wrong with sparco, they are about the same price for a nice bucket
PM me for some 4pt sparco harnesses with mounting backing brackets
they require a harness bar or similar functional device

I just talked to a few friends that run NASA hondachallenge about the HPDE issue, he said that it doesn't matter for HPDE, but for actual competition events, you need to have either a FIA approved seat, or a seat restraint that is mounted to the harnessbar/roll cage in your car if your seat is now FIA approved/expired.

That is not true in NorCal.
If you modify your OEM safety equipment it must fallow the guide lines for a race car, up to the point that you modify the safety equipment.
this isn't the first time i have heard that other NASA regions are more relaxed though.
