Best tire for my setup?
Right now i have 205/40/16 Falken Azenis rt-615's and honestly, the tires grip but not as much as i need them to so its time to upgrade. The car is a street car as much as its a hpde car.
I was looking into Bridgestone RE-01R's but unfortunately for me, they dont make the size I need 205/40/16. 45 sidewall is out of the question.
My question is, what other tires out there offer that size and have a stickier compound than the Azenis for dry conditions?

i think that specific size youre looking for REALLY limits your choices... only better dry street tire I can think of is Advan A048 and Hankook RS-2, both not available in that size.. I beleive

There aren't any in that size. The only street tires that are stickier than the Azenis are the Bridgestone RE-01R and the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1, and they don't come in that size. Neither will the new Toyo R1R; no word yet on the Kumho XS.
Since you're using the car for track events, you could consider getting R compound track tires, but none of those are available in that size, either. R compound availability in 16" sizes is really limited; for some reason you can find a lot more R comps in 15" or 17".
I think your best bet is to get another set of wheels, in 15" or 17", and get some R compound tires for your HPDE events. (There are lots of R comps available in 205/50-15, for example.) Then you can use the Azenis (or a less sticky tire) on your 16" wheels for the street.
If you HAVE TO use the 16" wheels for track events and you need something stickier, the Hoosier R6 (R compound) is available in 205/45-16. Yes, it's a bit bigger but you have to go bigger for R comps anyway (it's actually about the same outer diameter as the 205/50-15).

thanks for the informative posts. It'd be great to use my 16" wheels to avoid having to buy 15's but since the tire selection is so limited, it looks like I have no choice. Thanks again!
one last question, any hands on experience on yokohama prada spec 2's versus the azenis rt-615's?

Yes, but I'm not sure why you're asking about those. The Parada Spec 2 is just a crappy street tire - nowhere near as good as good summer tires like Yokohama's ES100 or S.drive or the Kumho SPT, let alone a supersticky tire like the RT-615.
If someone told you they're really sticky, they were mistaken.
