Maintenance Required?

Maintenance Required?
I'm sure this question could be answered by a manual, but I don't have one... So I'm posting here. 
I know how to reset the Maintenance Required box (2000 Civic), but what I don't know is what it rolls over for. Is it for oil changes? Or is it for "scheduled" maintenance? Thanks in advance.
edit- Spelled "Maintenance" wrong my first time around searching. Tried again with correct spelling and found my answer.

It pretty much just is a reminder for oil & small maintenance, nothing else to it. Goes off every certain miles which I forgot what it was already.
