air intake tube question
hey guys, im new here. i've been lurking on these forums for what seems forever. anyway, i have a complete noob question. i only realised this about an hour ago coz it was the first time i had been bothered to fit a new aem cold air intake.
long story short, there's a tube fitting on the original intake that isnt on the aem one, check out the pictures. basically, if anybody could tell me what the f*ck it's for and whether or not my car would run fine without it.
it's a 92 prelude, h23a1.
thanks!

Its not needed. You can fab your own hole into the intake piping, and do it like that, or just block it off. Ive done it both ways, no real big diffrence. I think that tube is designed to help more air get into the air while starting the car.
You can, or you can let it suck in unfiltered air. Not that it should make a diffrence. I think mine did the idle serge as well, I stuck a piece filter over top it so it dont suck in anything to big
Do not cap it off. Leave it open or stick a filter on it. Capping it off causes erratic idle surges and a generally bad ride. So in a way it is needed, just not at the intake.
