overheating problem

Default overheating problem

my dads civic d16y7 overheats at idle, but its ok when driving... the fan is working but there was a little leak where the hose meets the top of the head, the radiator has 115,000 miles on it... what are the symptoms of a blown head gasket...does he need a new radiator.. anybody help us out..thnx we appreciate it alot...

when its cooled down, take the rad cap off, start the car, and look for constant bubbling. thats a sign of a bad HG. drain the oil and see if its milkly/chalky colored. when the car is hot, see if the coolant is bubbling into the coolant overflow. and the best way, is a compression and/or leakdown test.

replace the engine temp sensor...it is located on top of the thermostat housing.
i had the same problem.

replaced everything and flushed 3 times.
at the end it was that stupid sensor.

save yourself the time and money and just get that sensor.

if the fan runs, doesnt the temp sensor work?
