Newbie seeks advice on improving 2002 Accord EX V6 handling.
Hello All.
I've recently purchased a 2002 Accord EX V6 and find it to be a great car. However, I find that it feels very "floaty" and "bouncy" when making turns, hitting dips in the road, etc. I'm not inerested in racing, but I do tend to corner fast and would really like to stiffen things up a bit and get a more tight and agile feel out of the car without sacrificing too much comfort for those long drives.
Any recommendations for what adjustments should be made? Are there specific tires, suspension parts, etc. that work best for this year and model - but that aren't going to break the bank?
Something else I'm curious about, although it's not a priority at the moment, is that my car has an automatic transmission. I'm really starting to miss driving a 5sp. Is it possible to switch from auto to standard? How involved and expensive would something like that likely be?
Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. Forgive my automotive ignorance, but what about the front-end? Should anything be done there? Also, the tires on the car right now are cheapies and not feel like they could just slide around at any second. Are there certain performance-oriented tires that I should look into as well?

Well, I'm not sure how relevant this is to your situation, but for all-seasons, I have Yokohama Avid TRZ's and I absolutely love them. I don't drive super-aggressively, but I do love throwing my car around turns, and these handle well enough that I never feel like I'm starved for grip. Also, I've never ever felt more confident in rain and snow than on these tires.
I feel like living in TX, you can go for something a little more aggressive, seeing as how you don't have to deal with snow like I do...and there I've got no recommendations for ya.
