quick history:
Bought a 00 civic dx hatch back in 2003.
Got out of the honda scene and used the car as a commuter car.
This year i have to smog the car to register and unfortunately CEL 41 shows up.
So i go to inspect the oxygen sensor and this is what i found.

and i also broke one of the bolts for the heat shield while trying to remove it.

The sensor is also stuck. I cant take it out.
My question is:
Is the crack in the manifold causing the code 41?
Will the CEL go away if i just change the sensor?
Do i have to buy a whole new manifold and cat?
Thanks in advance guys.

is the exhaust manifold and the TWC Coverter one piece on the d16y7?
if so will i be able to buy a used one or do i have to buy a brand new one since its connected with the cat?

Your gonna need a new manifold no matter what. Go buy a new one and if you cant get that o2 sensor off, then buy a new one and it should fix both problems.

this sucks. i need to smog the car next month and i dont have enough cash to buy the exhaust manifold/cat right now. the sensor itself costs 93 bucks.
thats why i was wondering if the CEL was caused by the crack.
i was just going to change the sensor if that will take out the CEL so i can smog it. Then ill swap out the the manifold/cat later.
thanks for the quick replies.

What I think may have happened is that with the crack, the temperature around the sensor became too hot and over time could have burnt it out.
Instead of taking a chance with the new sensor, dont buy a new manifold, just run a quick bead with a mig welder. If you dont have 1, ask any shop to do it. Tell em you will give them $20 for 5 minutes of their time and you are groovin...
I had a crack in the manifold in kind of the same spot, right where 2 runners meet, on my AE86 corolla, I ran a bead and it was fine. And cheaper than a new set of TRD headers!

41 = O2 heater
CX does not have O2 heater wiring nor O2 heater circuitry in the ECU.
You're obviously chipped (you should have mentioned that)
are you running the P05 or a VTEC ECU with your swap?
