Silly Mistakes!.. What's yours?
Well the last couple of days have been a nightmare, car's off the road, bike decided not to start so now i have no transport.. takes 15 mins usually to get to work, now with public transport it takes me 1 hour and 45 minutes, work as been crap also...
and why? i'll tell you why!
valve stem seals were on their way out so i decided to replace them one day after work using the tool that allows you to do them without removing the head. I get 11 done no problem, then, putting the two keepers in place, i get one in and the other dropped out of my hand (doh) and all i heard was clunk, clink.. don't know where it went, down a cylinder? down an oil gallery?.. it's now dark and cold, no garage and now it wont stop raining.
tell me it's not just me? and others have had crappy luck like this?

Oh god yea, the first time I did my mini-me swap It took nearly a month to get it done because every other part either was the wrong one, or didn't fit/look right (As is the nature of all mini-me swaps)

When I installed my turbo kit, I ended up putting my oil sandwich adapter backwards. I started the car up after everything was done and oil was just pouring from the filter all over my garage. Needless to say I won't make that mistake again.
a couple weeks ago, after breakfast, i put the cereal in the refrigerator and the milk in the cabinet.
my wife found out the next morning and woke me up to get milk.
civtic, your story sucks though.

I was bleeding the brake lines on my car and forgot to tighten the last wheel after lowering the car off the jack. drove off and the wheel pops off. the next day driving home from work the lower ball joint falls apart beacuse the car was grinding on it when that wheel popped off. two months before this happened the passenger side ball joint fell apart.
I also helped a friend swap a b16 in his hatch, wouldnt start. car sat with the swap for 4 months until we found out a plug on the harness was not plugged in all the way.

about 8 years ago me and a friend bought a 93 civic from an old lady($200). the car had been siiting in a field for about three years with the head removed. we had a spare from a swap so we threw it in. we tried to get it started for two days with no luck. we had spark, fuel to the rail, injector signal (tested with a noid) and of course air. everything and engine needs to run, right. my pal decide we should pull the fuel rail with the injectors in place and crank it to see if the injectors were actually spraying fuel, so we did. we knew the rail was gunna preasurise to about 35 psi so i held the rail pushing the injectors into the intake manifold. as soon as he started cranking it over 2 of the injectors blew out of the rail spewing fuel all over the top of the engine. i guess some made it down one or some of the empty injector boss' into the cylinders and whhoooopf. we had us a nice "little" fire for about five second, lucky we had a fire exstinguisher right there. no damage to the car but it scared the **** out of us, then we rolled on the floor the laughing for about five minutes. we were both saying YOU SHOULDA SEEN THE LOOK ON YOU FACE

^WOW, fuel leaking is never good! I just had to fix a couple seals that broke under super cold temps just at the beginning of the year.
My stupid move must be not researching the spark plug wire timing sequence and just guessing by the wire length. Easy right? LOL Cranked it and POP! Oops!

lol.. man i feel so much better now!!
but just to add to my original post i think the auto store has given me the wrong seals lol, apparently they should be identified by the colour of spring for inlet and exhaust valves, all mine were identical.. so all this hassle and it could and probably is likely to be the same or even worse..
i tell ya!

i got a few lol. 1- after i got done with the b20 swap on my civic, i couldnt get it to start. after checking everything, i found out that i wasnt getting any fuel. i checked the relay, and it was ok, so then i decided to check the fuel pump, and it was ok. i probly spent like 4 hours searching for the problem before i checked the ground on the thermostat, and found out that i had left it loose. 2- i was changing the cluster in my eg coupe and forgot to conect one of the plugs on it, and didnt realize it till i was completely done assembling everything. 3- my friend was helping me do a swap on my hatch, and we forgot to tighten one of the axle nuts, and after about 2 days of driving, the wheel bearing came loose all at once and i almost lost controll of the car in a turn. now i double check everything, and try not to work on stuff when i cant concentrate on it.
