Well, step one to any CAI/SRI is installing it right. You might want to try that first.

To the OP
Aem is crap. Injen is less crap.

Greg50Lt isn't BSing anyone. And I love everyone assuming it was installed incorrectly.

The part number of the original intake released was 69-1012TP which is now discontinued because it was ill-fitting.

The current part number in K&N's catalog is 69-1014TS

If you don't believe me, pop the part numbers in google. Some places still have the old part number in stock or advertised, but only the new number shows up on K&N's site.

I replied to this post once already, but I don't know what happened to it! Anyway, I live close to you. Actually on the border of glen burnie and pasadena. I have been kickin the idea around of getting an intake and couldn't decide between a CAI or an SRI. I'm hearing all these horror stories about the CAIs causing hydrolock. And supposedly the SRI is good, but not as effective as the CAI. How do you like your cold air? Did you worry about hydrolock before you purchased your intake? And you've had no problems with it since?

We get our fair share of rain and such, but nothing like a lot of the other states in this country. Do you think I'm safe in getting a CAI? If so I take it you recommend the Injen? Thanks for the help man, take care.

honestly dont worry about the hydrolocking...worse come to worse if ur really that nervous about it..jus buy the shield option for the cai....even if you dont, you have to get a real good amount of water to get it suck into the intake to cause hydrolocking...jus becareful on those rainy rainy days with them big potholes/puddles. and i do recommend the injen cai with the MR technology..happy days

I have had the old style on my car now for the past year with ZERO issues. I know there is a version two out now...which is not polished anymore and the heat shield is slightly different. Maybe it gives it a different fit but the original fits fine in my car and many, many other peoples Si's too.

mine didn't fit very well in my FA5.

I'm not using it anymore cause it didn't fit well.

The part was discontinued because it didn't fit well.

I'm happy that you and many, many others have been happy with your original part number K&N SRI. I wasn't, Greg50lt isn't. Each car and each run of a part is a little bit different, maybe that variation explains it. I don't think it's an issue of incorrect install, the original part number being discontinued is evidence of that.

I'm not going to argue with you about it anymore. My experience was different than yours. (and many, many others... I know)

None of this really has to do with injen vs. aem anyways.

I went through that several times. I could get it to fit a little better in some places, but it would make others worse. It just seemed like the clearances were just a bit too tight, not alot of room for error. I eventually got frustrated and took it off. It's nice to have my low end throttle response back... lol

I ended up cutting the MAF sensor housing out of the OEM airbox and using a BPi flowstack http://www.bpinitiatives.com/

Yea same here. It fit better with out a bolt hlding the bracket closest to the firewall it ended up hitting a mount sumwhere and then i tighted that up and then it hit the hose so idk. im gonna look into the BPi flowstack al lil more. PM me some info on it and how its working for you. thanks

Fujita only makes a CAI for the DX/LX/EX models. No the Si.

Yea you're right my mistake. Someone suggested the Fujita to me, not realizing I was only interested in a CAI and I just assumed it was one. Sooo....I think at this point I'm leaning toward an Injen. or

If your going ot get one get the injen SRI or their CAI. they make good products. I like the sound that my motor makes wth the SRI as apposed to the CAI.

Is it the higher whiny sound that the SRI makes opposed to the deeper sound the CAI makes?
