Default D16Z6

sorry for such the noobish question, but what is the potential for a D16Z6?? what D series are better? im coming from a B series down to the D series and i really just want to learn more about the D series and its potential. i know i can't get anywhere close to the power i can out of a b.

i want to start things off with a cam, header, intake, and exhaust. do you guys have any recommendations for any? the intake im just going to buy ebay with K&N filter. thanks!

The d16z6 is the best d-series motor (USDM) you can get... After that -- the d16y8.. The JDM d15B is good also..

Adding an intake, cam, header, and exhaust will net you no more than 10-20hp.. waste of money IMO -- go turbo or keep it stock. I've been there and done both options so trust me on this one.

if your not looking for huge hp gains, but want somthin as fast as a bseries or maybe a bit more then i would invest in a dsm turbo setup to slap on there. its perfect for the z6 even stock. you will pull in the high 13's, as where bseries stock would pull around in the mid to high 14s. in a hatchback anyways. turbo really is the way to go.

there are thousands of articals on it. best place to look is put up want to buy adds for the stuff you need to find the best prices. or go to ebay. however first, search around for turbo d series builds and how to's, there are many around that will tell you what you need.

I would agree to that ....dont waste your time buying aftermarket headers,exhaust,etc... waste of money....save those money for a nice turbo setup....

i disagree w/ everyone who said aftermarket i/h/e is a waste... he just wants something "zippy" not "oh **** fast". the time/money it would take would be a waste if you just want something "zippy"

it is said that a stock z6 can hand up to about 220 hp with a good tune. some have claimed up to 250, but i would never go that far on a stock block. i have ran this motor before but i never actually put a turbo on it to know for myself. however i have been into hondas for many years now. to be safe, i would say put a 14b (dsm) turbo on it, get a good tune and it will plenty "zippy" for you. if you are not satisfied in time and want more like i always do, then biuld the block better and get a bigger turbo.
