Default Does anyone know the speed distribution for 94-01 GSR

Ok, so i purchased a itr cluster, but I think the speed might be a little off.

was wondering if anyone here knows the break down of the speed in each gear at specific RPM's for a GSR, not sure if it would make a difference since its for type R and has different gear ratios. Anyway

I know in 5th gear, at a certain rpm, you just multiple by 20 to get your speed,

example 5th gear at 3k rpm = 60mph (5th gear: 3k rpm x 20 = 60mph/ 4k rpm = 80mph etc...)

The gauge seems to be correct in 5th gear if the above statement is correct, but I wanted to double check all gears as well.

TIA

the vss&ecu controls the speed not the cluster so the gauge should be reading right if not look more towards the vss

I understand that, but im saying if the needle could be off.

example: driving in 5th gear at 2500rpm mph was shwing 60 so i knew this was incorrect.

the ecu and vss could be correct but the needle could be off....

I read this distribution of each gear @ certain rpm's some where on here but cant seem to find it....anyone???

When I bought my car used, it had indiglo gauges, many people will take the needle off to install the gauges, so when reinstalling the needle, if put on incorrectly it will throw off your rpm or mileage. My rpm's were off by about 500 and my mileage off by 5, sounds like your scenerio also. At 2500 rpm I was at 65 mph, when it should have been 3000 rpm and 60 mph

so what did u do then reposition the needle to read corectly or did u leave it?

if you repositioned it say at 60 mph at 3k rpm at 5th gear, where all the other speeds in the other gears reading correctly?

Yup just moved the needles a little. My gas gauge was also way off. My gas light would come one when the according to the gauge I still had 1/3 tank left, so I repositioned the gas gauge needle a little also. Now the gas light comes on at about 1/8 ways, just before the E.

well at least your gas gauge still works, or the light bulb that is. I havent seen mine light up, maybe i shoulda test the bulb. anyway, what I had to do was cruise in 5th gear and press the needle in at the known speed lol (2k=40mph), I know for a fact that 5th gear is correct in this measurement, but I just wanted to see if or at all the other gears will be affected by doing this.

Only reason I went this route is bc I changed the red needles off the usdm itr cluster for the orange/amber needles on the jdm ones. never thought it would throw off the speed and result to recalibration.

Well if anyone else out there can account for the misinformation for gears 1-4 please do accordingly, your help is greatly appreciated.

peace
