Default Can't shift into first gear at very low speed

hey honda-tech guys, whats up? i have a 96 civic EX and i here is my problem:
I can't shift into first gear; the only time i can put into first is when i am starting to move the car (full stop). for example, when i slow down and want to put into first it wont go at all, so i have to put into second. also, one time i got stuck in the middle of street cause i could'nt shift to any gear :D, so i turned my car off, shifted few times and turned it on again and it was fine. is this related to master/slave cylinders? i have a short shifter with bushings ( i don't know if that's useful to know). in general i can shift up from first to fifth gears easily but when i shift back to 2 and especially 1 it won't shift or it is very hard to shift. PLEASE HELP

Sounds like a clutch on its way out (worn out pressure plate splines).

This could also be a product of a faulty master/slave cylinder that isnt keeping pressure.

Heh, mine does this as well. Its extremely hard to shift down into 1st / 2nd.

Not really worried about it, swappin' motor soon so I just figured its drivable till I swap.

my bet is the clutch and pp is on the way out.. weather shouldnt be a factor. though i can recall when i had my d series it was easier to shift when it was cold, then got rough when warm.
