Default MWHC Round 1 at Mid Ohio - Registration is now OPEN!

That’s right MWHC drivers; registration is open for our first event of the year at Mid Ohio: https://www.nasaproracing.com/...d=708 .

It’s time for all of us to dig ourselves out from the blanket of snow that we’ve been under and start making sure that our race cars are prepped and ready to race. Please feel free to reply to this message if you have any questions about this event or any questions about the MWHC in general. Please check out the Approved Tech Shops listed for your area(s) and try to get an annual tech before coming to the track: http://racenasa.nasamidwest.co...s.asp . This will be a HUGE time saver for everyone if we, the racers, can have our annual tech inspections taken care of prior to our first event.

Don’t forget to get in contact with Phil from Phil’s Tire Service to take care of any of your Toyo tire needs for this and all events this season: http://www.philstireservice.com/ .

Also, keep an eye out for the upcoming re-launch of our website; I’ll send everyone an email letting them know when the website is finished and where to go to check it out. Please be sure and send me your driver profiles and pics (info sent to all of you in a previous email today).

I look forward to seeing you all in a very short 8 weeks and can’t wait to see the first HC standing start of the season!

Regards,

Sam

Anyone planning on being at this event? Friday Test-n-Tune for all Race classes and HPDE/TT; practice, qualifying and sprint races on Saturday and Sunday along with full HPDE and TT. Don't forget about the new 3 hour Enduro on Saturday evening!

I hope to see all of the locals at the event to start the season out right.

Regards,

Sam

Same here, I'm about 75% in. Depends on if I decide to do bodywork in March-April or May-June.

Sorry for the OT, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Are you trying to make the car all pretty now? Guess we won't be seeing you until next year then

It'll buff out. I got a few tubes of Zymol.

I'm going to try to make it out. My trans is out and laying in parts, my head is out and laying in parts, and I'm rebuilding it all for what I hope will lead to a faster car.

I just have to get it all done in about 6 weeks.

I'm converting to a 4th gen prelude trans for better 4th and 5th gearing. I have to move my LSD, FD, and pimpy carbon coated sychro rings into the new trans. I'm also putting in some new bearings for good measure.

The engine head is getting decked +0.5 comp, a 5 angle valve job, very mild port matching job, and new valve springs/retainers. 8K RPM here I come!

If you're doing valvesprings and you're still 2.2L, you might as well set the redline at 8500 if you make power up there. That's where I am, except with JUN cams.

Also with that short gear and the 4th gen tranny you might need 8500 on some longer straights? WGI or Road America come to mind, you might approach 140.

can OEM H22a (other the valve springs) take 8.5K RPM? I was going to set my rev limmit to 8.2, but maybe 8.5 is ok? I want this engine to last all year, and then some. I had the rev limit set at 7.8K RPM last year with OEM valve springs and it was ok.

I've been using 8500, plus the occasional overrev/misshift, without bottom end issues. 2006 I blew a head gasket and had some oiling issues in the head (wear on a cam lobe). 2007 I didn't have any engine issues.

Maybe set the shift light to 8000 but you should tune it up to 8500 in case of "emergency" My shift light is 8200 and fuel cut is 8500, and my bottom end hasn't ever been opened.

Oh yeah, no balance shafts either. I don't know how they like high RPM.
