I made the mistake of letting the paint dry in my gun. Whats the best way to lean it ALL out? I tried to put it in thinner over night. Didnt work that well. Any Ideas?

ACID!!! it works grreat! i'll get the name of it tomarrow but if you leave it in there too long your seals on the gun will good bye bye like the paint. then you'll have to buy a rebuild kit

 

thinner and a few brushes to scrub at it, take it part and clean each piece.

 

mine sat for about an hour longer than i wanted it to... sprayed some xylene through it and it was golden.

Yep, the best way is to disassemble, strip it, then lube it up and put it back together.

I use Zep stripper, soak for 10 min, rinse it with water, dry all the parts and then it looks super shiny and new. If the material had hardener in it, you definitely need to strip it. Strong thinner and a brush will work fine if it was just base. Make sure you check your spray pattern beforehand next time you use it.

 

i used to work in commercial apartment painting, i thkn the guns are somewhat alike, and we would do is put water thru the system, no taking it apart, nothing. just let the waer clean out teh paint, until only water comes out of the nozzle. thats what we have done for 5 years and we've never lost a gun.

 

Yea the paint dried in my gun. Little pieces flake out and ruin w/e I paint. I want the strongest thing I can find and let it soak for a week. Then clean it.

ar...last time i check non of the basf companies use latex base paint

take it apart and clean it.

the strongest sh-t cleaner might be effective but it will not clean out 100 percent, and it might not be good for your seals

 

i use lackethinear from my autobody shop that i go to during school. it works fine just get a towel and soak it with some lackethinear and clean it. its a plus it dries realy fast and it burns if u get it in a cut or somthing

 

Something that MIGHT work, is to find the reducer for the paint you used. It may be mineral spirits (paint thinner), lacquer thinner, xylene, acetone, MEK, MAK, Naphtha, or one of dozens more. You can find this information on the label or on the data page (available through MFR).

Cleaning with the specific reducer for your paint will work a lot better than just trying random solvents.
