Default random box?

in me 2002 civic lx , there is a random long box connecting to my airbox.. and i dont know what purpose it serves..

also does it need to be taken out for installing a cold air intake? and if i do install it, is there any precautions i should take? like the maf sensor and all that

heres a pic : http://tristarusedcars.com/ima...e.JPG

it is to the left of the engine and right above the battery

That's part of the stock air box, You take it out when installing an intake.
Make sure your MAF sensor's harness isn't stretching too much.

yep its all gotta go. If you got an AEM intake it should have included it but if you got something else like off ebay then it probably doesn/t but anywas there is nothing to it, I think there is like 3-5 bolts on the main part then one going into the fender well for the other long box. I can't remember what all there is but its not hard should take about 25min or so.
