Default farewell to the D :( carnage pics

well i got it in and drove it daily @ 10 psi for about 3 weeks.. and i was on the highway cruising @ 80mph and i hear a slight knock.. pull over and yep its a rod knocking away @ idle.. well im 15 miles from my town so i try to limp it back home to save on a wrecker fee.. well 1 mile from the exit... boom it lets go..

destroyed the #1 rod...

the piston looks like it made contact with the valves.. the valves are 1mm oversized ferrerra titainium.. they dont look bent they dont even look like the were touched, but the pston says otherwise.. time to build that sleeved block i have.. hopefully i will only need a rod and piston and not vavles..

That sucks. What went wrong, bearing clearance issue?

yeah looks as if it was a oiling issue for sure! Are there anything left of the rod bearings? Any signs to the other rod bearings or mains?

What he thinks doesn't matter much. When he KNOWS something, we'll talk. We don't need to start baseless hypotheses floating around here simply because his D-series shat itself.

Oh god, my worst nightmare. I probably watch my oil press. gauge more than I watch the road.

Was this on a y8 oil pump...?

To the post above me... Thats a great eye you got... I noticed the master cyl is on the other side as well...

But back to the motor... Yeah best thing to do to see where you began to go wrong would be to look up on the oil pump and see if you have bearing material... if not then my next guess would would be a rod bolt failed... Good luck and nice set up... Ill be subscribing to your next build...
Approx how much power were you making... thats a decent sized blow dryer my friend... LOL

Wow, sucks to ruin eagles and ferra valves.

I have one question though, why did you notch the girdle? My eagles clear the z6 girdle just fine.

Time to come back stronger and boost more on that freshly built block! Sorry about the loss though. You ever find out if it was Oil Press. or not? Great pics of the damage too

Next time stop driving it. You'll save yourself some money. Probably could have got away with a bearing change (just dropping the oil pan).

i had to notch my z6 girdle because the rod bolts hit it. i dont know it some of the girdles are different or if i just had different rod bolts, the bolt head on them was really big but they were the ARP 2000's
