Default Ball Joint Help..

I'm trying to change the passenger side ball joint on my 91 CRX. I'm guessing I have to remove the hub assembly to have enough room to get the ball joint out? Well I tried to remove the axle bolt, but how can i keep it the axle from spinning. I tried putting the engine in gear.... Any input appreciated. Thanks

Have someone else hold the brakes on for you Or put tires back on, put back on ground, put in gear and parking brake on and then break loose

I hope your not trying to remove the 32mm axle nut with no tire on and with it up in the air........If so...

Remove your center cap on the wheel and leave the car on the ground. I was literally dragging my car even with the ebrake on. So have someone step on the brakes for you and remove that Pain in the *** bolt.

Like alscrx, I too dragged my Civic across the floor trying to get that bugger loose. Make sure to undo the "stake" on the nut first. Even then, it will be tough.

wow I didn't even think to do it through the wheel. I did remove the stake though. I will try that tonight. Is this the correct way to replace the ball joint though? I don't want to do all this for nothing. Thanks

you can also stick a pry bar in the wheel studs and turn in until its resting on the caliper and break it free. ya this is one of the proper ways to do it you have to use a big c clamp to push the ball joint out of the knuckle as seen in this picture
