Default Build your own Mugen Si

I was bored so I did a little research on how much it would cost to purchase all the Mugen parts separately from the dealer. These don't include install, paint, or 18'' tires for the rims. I got these prices from Majestic Honda. If you can find a Mugen Si for $27k, it might actually be a decent deal seeing as the parts alone will cost you over $10k.

It's an okay list, but there is some stuff on it, that the Mugen Si doesn't have. The Mugen Si has no brake upgrades.

Maybe it's an option, but the parts list has Mugen slotted rotors and Mugen brake pads and Mugen mesh brake lines.

Can anyone confirm that the Mugen Si has standard NON-SLOTTED rotors?

I know for a fact it doesn't. I just confirmed it, by telling you. Some dealerships opt to install the HFP Brake Kit on their Mugen Si's before they sell them, but if they don't the Mugen Si has the exact same brakes as the normal Si. RICO, where are you?

Oh here is a link to the Honda website...no slotted rotors.

add up the parts for a regular Si; the car in parts is like 50k probably if not more...not including paint and assembly

something to be said for a package deal ; )

Ill say it again...the mugen has the same power, same engine, same transmission, and SAME BRAKES as the normal si. They are not upgraded in any way.

these parts on the list are accessories for the mugen si.

everything else comes on the car. and ill say it again but it may not be something i would purchase but for the exclusivity and the parts that are on the car its worth it

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by honda parts bulletin &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Door Under Trim ¨C These metal door sill trim plates feature the Mugen Si logo. Set includes 2 front door sill trim plates and 2 rear door sill trim plates.

Quick Shifter Kit ¨C The shift lever is shortened by 5 mm and the lever pivot is extended by 5 mm to optimize leverage rate. This provides a more accurate and direct shift feeling.

Front/Rear Brake Pads ¨C These pads perform just like standard brake pads in low temperature conditions, with improved fade resistance. They also provide firmer pedal feel and better brake modulation. These pads perform even better when combined with Mugen Brake Rotors.

Front/Rear Brake Rotors ¨C Five slots, each 1 mm deep, help keep the braking surface clean and discharge hot gases generated between the rotor and pad, minimizing brake fade. The rotor surface is specially treated to ensure durability and prevent rust.

Micro Mesh Brake Line Kit ¨C These highly flexible and durable hoses meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 106 and are installed in the same location as the original hoses. The chromate coating prevents rust and corrosion.

You can buy these parts now? Wasn't there a thread(s) a while ago stating you have to have a VIN for purchase?

If it's true my deal cost plus 10% no tax is going to save me a ton!

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Shipping Charge $17.29</TD></TR></TABLE>

I use to order from them a lot, their shipping is generally wrong. I bought a set of 2000 Si wheels and shipping was a shocker, I couldn't believe what it was, so I upgraded to next day shipping. The very next day they called me saying "yeah, there is an over size charge of $125, do you still want overnight?" It wasn't the last time either. When I was a regular customer of theirs before they got popular I always called to verify shipping.

Right on. I have an '07 Si which I got for less than $21K. I saw the Mugen and found it to be an overpriced Si. The aero package looks like stupid. What's up with that rear wing. I can get a better suspension kit for less money (Eibach, H&R and Bilstein or Konis).

F1 season starts in less than 3 weeks. Let's see how Honda does this year.
