Default 2 sensors on the manual trans

theres one sensor near the shift linkages. what is that for? And theres another one, what does it do? thanks!

one is the speed sensor, the other is the reverse switch.

3 pin is speed. ground, 5volt input, and signal.
2 pin is reverse.
