Default miller syncrowave 250DX suddenly weldling aluminum like ***?

anybody ran into a problem like this? seems like the last week it hasnt been welding the same, and its almost like its somewhat intermittent.

the puddle seems sloppy and all over the place. also its almost as if the puddle doesnt want to properly accept the filler rod. welding around a 3 inch pipe for example (on the intermittent thing) will weld horrible 1/2 way around the pipe, then all of the sudden will weld 1/4 way around perfect like it used to, and then it starts sucking *** again.

its super frustrating and im not too sure where to begin.

nothing else has changed, so it has to be something with the machine. the machine is about 4'ish years old, the pedal and torch are about a year old.

spoke with miller tech support. they want me to try a couple things (that im damn near positive are not going to work) that im going to try now and probably have to call them back.....but i figured i'd see if any of you guys have run into anything like this

Are you using a gas lens? Have you tried a new bottle of Argon? What settings do you have for the A/C wave if any (not sure what features that one has)? Picture might help too.

what david said, swap to a different bottle and see if that helps, also try a different cup ive had gas coverage issues before and found the cup broken..

it was the bottle of argon. i didnt put 2 and 2 together that i got a new bottle a couple weeks ago but didnt weld much aluminum. ive been using the same supplier for a long time and never had any issues. they swapped the bottles free of charge, so it seems things are back to normal now.

thanks guys

Another thing to check in the future is the fittings on the welding hoses and cables...ive noticed mine have loosened a bit on occasion and it leaks argon

I had the same problem the middle of last year, I'm possitive the gas in the bottle was o2 instead of argon, it was welding like a cutting torch, lol. Either way the gas place replaced it and told me "we've never had this happen before" ..... sure
