Throttle Cable Question

Is it possible for the throttle cable to get corroded/rusted?

there is an annoying creaking/grinding in my pedal and i was wondering if it was the throttle cable instead of the pedal assambly.

you can try to put your head down by the pedals and push down and get a more idea of were the noise is coming from
