JDM B16 problems
I just recently bought a 1990 Civic Si with a JDM B16A and YS1 LSD tranny from an SiR. It has a full MSD ignition, type r throttle body, and i/h/e. It also has a GSR gauge cluster with a shift light. It also is running a Mugen chip on the stock OBD0 ecu. Rev limiter is set at 8350 and the shift light comes on at 8300. Thats the basic set up.
There are a few problems. First of all the temp gauge in the GSR cluster doesnt work. Second of all, the speedometer is ~6mph off. These are both inconvienent but i could live with them as long as they dont cause other problems. It would be great if i could fix them though.
The problem that most worries me happens on the freeway. From time to time when i drive on the freeway at about 65mph for like 20 miles or so, the car starts to kinda stutter/lose power. If i punch it while its doing it, it will regain power and accelerate, but it kinda hesitates a little. It kinda scares me. The interesting thing about this is that when it does this on the freeway, the temp gauge on the cluster starts to work again???
I dont even know where to start. Electrical stuff is not exactly my forte. If anyone could steer me in the right direction, that would be great. Thanks a lot for the help. Anything is appreciated.

I dont think you know what you have, A YS1 NEVER came in any SIR. They are from integras.

Well i can say i have very similar but far more frequent of the same issue on my car and i think i have narrowed it down to the msd ignition system my buddy had the same problem on his swapped it back to stock dizzy and the sputters went away
as far as your gauges i dont know but you have a wiring issue for sure i would check to see if your dash harness is messed up check the temp sensor on your head see if its broken or maybe getting shorted from your msd somehow and when your ignition cuts out and allows your temp sensor to work again is my guess
but thats just what i think
if it were me i would try a stock dizzy and double check the wiring for breaks or shorts
but it could be the main relay too

Well I'll check the main relay first. I am new to the whole civic world. I just had my 95 GSR stolen, and I bought this to replace it. Sorry if I mixed up some of the origins of these components. I greatly appreciate the help. Any other suggestions would still be greatly appreciated.
