I remember seeing somebody on hT a long time ago that had 2 crx's, 1 was used to tow the autoX crx to racetracks etc... Who was that?
I'm wondering what kind of hitch I would need to tow a rolling crx shell with my crx halfway across the US.
Otherwise what would be the cheapest route to get a crx shell from SoCal to Chicago?
Is it possible to do it <$500?
The distance is almost exactly 2,000miles lol I could be off my rocker on this. But I really want a rust free shell.

basically what i want to do is drive halfway across the US in my crx one last time before i retire her, bring a buddy along for help, pay him in food, and pull a rolling shell back with my crx.
is that even possible? lol
is that even possible? lol
i think you can buy a bolt up one. you can for the 87's because i had an 87 that got wrecked
and it had a tow hitch on it when i got it.

im sure you could get a hitch put on your rex, probably have to be custom tho. (might be expensive)
then drive there and get a uhaul car dolly and bring it back with that.
good luck.

I've done this with rabbits, and I've also pulled stuff with my civic. It will work, but keep the speeds way down. The back end of a crx isn't heavy enough to battle the front end of one in intense maneuvers.

Why dont you contact a car shipper. Its usually $500-750 across the US and you dont have to do any work

Thought about it. I tried callin Hmotorsonline to see if they had any incentive but the line was busy all day. UPS freight said $1,200 and 4 days. DAS freight said 450 and 12 days. Other carriers wont even take a car that doesn't run under its own power. Alot of carriers jack the price up several hundred just to have it offloaded with a power lift truck. Even though the crx wont even fit on a power lift of any freight truck. I would almost not rather trust the damages that could happen trusting an outside freight shipping company ive never done business with before. Even tho the possibility of something happening driving across the US in a crx and pulling one back is much greater. At least i feel I have more control over the situation.
I think it would be much more fun and an awesome time driving halfway across the US in a crx to california, to get a crx and pull it back halfway across the US to chicago.

Dude definitley do it. That sounds like a blast. We used to use my buddys civic to haul tons of ****. We even put two complete d16z6's in the hatch area and the exhaust rubbed on the ground for about 120miles until it finally wore the flange off. I say Just do it!

I looked at prices on small car tow dolly's at $800-1,000 thats not gonna happen Im not going to buy one just to use it once.
Although im pretty sure this is very possible to do. Looks like its going to be the best route. A bolt on hitch with a small car tow dolly.
My only hang up with this situation in trying to keep the price on doing this as cheap as possible is the cost of a car tow dolly, weather i buy one, or rent one. Renting seems like its going to be a couple hundred dollars, thats if I can lie to a rental place about the vehicle I will be using to tow the crx with.
