Default My N/A Exhaust Set Up

Ok so here's my issue... Searching didn't, and wouldn't really help me because I can't really focus in enough on what I'm asking.

Anyways... Right now I have a SS 4-1 Header (2.5") into an OEM cat, and 2.25" piping into a 2.25" ES-Tuning muffler.

Now I really don't know much about exhausts (hence the thread), but Should I be running 2.5" all the way back? Or at least 2.5" all the way back to my muffler?

Things to note:
-Car will never be turbo
-I plan on replacing the cat with either a high flow one, or a test pipe
-Smog isn't an issue, I have no problem bolting up a passable exhaust system

Thanks ahead of time for any help/adice, lmk if more info is needed.

What you have is perfectly fine. 2.5 inch is OK, but 2.25 inch piping on an NA motor is good -- unless you are going to seriously modify the motor.. It's a nice compromise over stock exhaust piping

I don't have a major build going, as of right now I have type-r cams. In the next few weeks I will be adding a Blox intake manifold/throttle body, and a p28. Probably gonna throw in hondata and get it on a dyno.

Thanks for the advice, I had someone telling me I would actually gain a noticeable amount of HP if I went 2.5 all the way back.

I don't think you'd notice much if any gains in HP/TQ by going with .25 inch larger piping -- but bump for more answers.

For your set-up, what you have is fine.

However, if the exhaust piping was matched to the size of your collector (2.5'') all the way back, then yes, you could pick up some power.

I think that's what I'm gonna do... A friend of mine left his old World Sport muffler in my garage, it's been like 4 months now. I think it's time for me to weld it up, lol!

Thanks for the help, I'm gonna go get my piping now! Oh yeah, and a test pipe ($$)

run a test pipe with a bung and run a blox o2 cel eliminator. that way you have minimal restrictions.
