i know this question has been a well talked about subject and i have been searching and still have not found a final answer(questions have not been fully answered)
1) does any one have the specs on the head and blocks of these three?
2)whats the difference between the three?
3)what are the similarity's between theses three?
4)any other info about these three engines?
i have been searching and i would really like some more info on these three engines so if any one would be able to answer a couple or all of my questions that would be great. thanks for your help in advance.

I'm sure you have something bigger up your sleeve than to simply know about these engines. What is it you're planning? What do you really want to know? Are you trying to decide which car to get ('02-02 RSX, 05-06 RSX, '06+ Si)??

well thats pretty much true. i have a k20z3 si. there are two reasons why i really asked these questions and that is
1) i want to plan out my tuner plan. what could the k20z3 best show with, boost or all motor. i like to plan a plan out so i know what to shot for. i just dont know what the k20z3 would best show power from boost or all motor? i heard that the k20z1 was like the k20a with lesser power, or compression or something like that (11.0:1 or 11.5:1 or something like that). the type r can be a pretty good all motor engine (or at least the b series was new to the k). so if the k20z1 was some what like the k20a and the k20z3 was about the same as the k20z1. so kind of like k20z3-k20a?
2)well that pretty much covered it all really. as i said im new to the k series and just want the best horse power gain from the k20z3.(make it kind of k20a like)
-so really im kind of asking for is there a way to make the k20z3 like a k20a or make the k20z3 the most power out put?
-boost or all motor

1. im pretty sure u can find the specs on google. i know the k20a has 86mm bore and stroke.
2. k20a>k20z1>k20z3. diff are power, and gear ratios. and the z1 doesnt have a lsd like the a and z3.
3. similarities?? all 3 are k series hahaha jk. they all have i-vtec, the z1 and z3 have similar gear ratios. except the z3 has a 6th gear ratio of 0.659 where as the z1 has a 0.738 for 6th gear. some internals of the 3 are interchangeable which can give you more power. also parts for the 3 are quite pricey.
4. well the k20a is race built with a higher rpm and hp obviously. i heard the k20a has less tranny problems. im guessing its the syncros that make the difference. cuz alot of usdm k series have tranny grinds. hmm anything else... uhhhh the z3 only puts out 7 more ft/lb of torque than the k20a3. k series can be boosted without building the motor for boost, but its highly recommended you do cuz u dont nothin blowing up. or breaking.
its really up to you what u want to do, you will get more power boosting than going all motor.
until there are more products that give more hp for all motor. but it really depends how much your boosting. cuz all motor can have more hp than boosting
--- hope this helped in some way, shape, or form

thanks for the info it really did help. i was looking more in to it and i think i would probably be going towards boost because of the car being a mostly dd and i heard a all motor is not really that good for a dd?
probably turbo but i dont i heard some things about sc?

Trending Topics
i honestly would go all motor for a dd. cuz boost does make a car more fun to drive, but the boost really wears the motor down a lot faster than you think, unles u can stay on top of routine maintenance. like oil changes, adjusting belts, changing them, spark plugs, check for boost leaks, etc. boosted cars can be dd, but just the maintenance can turn into a hassle, especially if your lazy like me hahahaa
well ppl's opnions are diff when it comes to the types of boosting. some ppl will say turbo over sc or sc over turbo. it really comes down to what u think is better. turbo has good top end as to the sc has good bottom end. ppl also tend to believe that the sc is always boosting even at idle which is NOT true. it only boosts when u step on the gas. well it was that way when i drove a mustang cobra. i know ppl that have turbo cars and for dd they just set the boost real high and get a huge turbo lag and they can put put around without the car boosting hardly at all. but when u do that u need to be watching the tach alot cuz u dont wanna boost and boom! ya know what i mean.

ya i was looking at the boost and the dd. but truthfully i wont to go all motor. to build something to show people what you have down. its a good feeling. thats what i was really the thing i was trying to get out of this post(why i was asking about all three engines) because the type r is a real good all motor build and i dont know if the k20z3 would make as good of a all motor as the type r. thats why i was seeing if there was a way to make the k20z3 have the same power as an all motor type r or even more. will adding type r cams and a tune help? i was really thinking about geting the hondata reflash because i have heard good things about that. so how well can a k20z3 do as an all motor build?

somebody told me that type-r cams wouldnt fit on the z3. or was it the a3... uhhh cannot remember lol but i would either go buddy club spec IV cams which require advanced valvetrain. or go with tsx cams (k24a2). but the z3 doesnt really have many aftermarket capabilities at this moment. i mean with the right connections yea it can turn into a rela sick build, but its gonna be a little while. see now you see what us americans go through because we cant get top of the line. always the 2nd best. stupid emissions regulations!!! damn the government! wait i cant say that cuz i work for them hahahahahaa

thats true, but i heard from some where that we where finally going to be getting the type r but thats what i heard? ya i wish they would come up with a tuning solution soon. i guess the best thing for now is just intake, exhaust, header and the reflash. what do you guys think about the reflash i heard it was a great improvement.

sorry for posting again so soon but i was just looking at the skunk2 website and found this
"
Skunk2 Racing makes a full line of valve train for the K20A2 engine, which will swap directly with the K20Z3."
is this true?
so if this is true then you can put type r camshafts or skunk2 k20a2 shafts in the k20z3?

yes they make a valvetrain, and yes cams will fit (typeR or otherwise)
but as RICO mentioned earlier, you have no way to tune your car for new cams.
the nice thing about boost right now, either turbo or supercharger, is that a kit comes with a tuning solution. AJP and Comptech with Hondata reflashes and Greddy with the e-manage.
The only "all-motor" setup you can get with a custom reflash is Hytech's package. Again, it has a reflash tuned to setup. Also, it will probably cost you as much or more than a turbo or supercharger.

changing tranny internals to give you more power?
experience boosting k20z3's?

i had another question about the k20z1 block vs the k20z3 block? are they about/ are the same? this question is for a kind of stroker kit set up for the k20z3? it works in the k20z1 so i wanted to see if it would fit in the k20z3 if it does in the k20z1? i heard the k20z3 is stronger than the k20z1(block) true or not? this is going for a turbo build up.
