Default B16B in a '94 EG.. Was told NOT to use B16b harnes?!? Look inside, i need advice

Ok, a buddy of mine had a B16b swap in a '98 EK, but sadly someone rear-ended him and totaled the car.

His thoughts are putting the R into an '94 EG hatch. He has the entire engine harness, we disconnected it and pulled it through the firewall. However, a friend of his told him that the harness won't work 'because of the gauge setup, they're different. get a obd1 sohc ex or a '94-'95 gsr harness'

I don't recall disconnecting anything other than three plugs from the ecu, and those three plugs went with the harness, no dash attachments, nothing. So, I was wondering how using the B16B harness would be a bad thing? Using the obd2 harness, with its original ecu.. i don't see the issue. Can anyone enlighten me please?

it does not fit. your friend is right. obd2 engines the harness goes from engine to ecu....obd1 car the engine harness goes from strut tower to strut tower and connects to the firewall harness.

wont work because of the difference in years, plug styles. just use you stock harness and lengthen where you need it and use the plugs from the B16b harness if you need to. FYI i have a 98 gsr in a 91 teg using my obd1 harness with vtec spliced in.
