How long does it take your CRX to "warm up" during winter?
I live in Maryland and we have moderately cold winters sometimes (right now, it's about 37 outside, warmer than usual).
When I drive to school (about thirty minutes away, pure highway @ 65-75 MPH), the car doesn't even 'warm up,' i.e. the temperature gauge thing barely reaches above C.
I rarely ever use the heater, but if I do use it, as expected, the needle dips well below C.
At my last oil change 2,000 miles ago, I put in synthetic oil.
Is this normal for a CRX not to warm up during seemingly warm winters? My 2.2L Camry warms up in less than two minutes.
It does warm up during city driving or when I'm stuck in traffic, but it usually tends to take a while. And by a while, I mean more than ten minutes.

Update!
I finally had time to ask my neighbor about the CRX not warming up...
He highly recommended a coolant flush and replacement of the thermostat.
The hose leading out of the radiator was pretty hot, so he said definitely do a coolant flush thing.

my hatch takes anywere from 5 2 10 min to warm up and thats with a brand new honda oem thermostat in it! mine old one took for ever then when it did finally warm up, it didn't blow hot! so try changing ur's! later

i know you're not much of a mechanic, but search how to remove your thermostat (it's just disconnecting a pipe from your radiator to your engine and popping it out). when you have it out, look at it to see if it's popped open. if it's not, put it into boiling water and see if it opens then. if it does, its not the thermostat that's causing the problem!

For the price of a thermostat, that is not even worth it anymore......they can wear out and still work, but at odd temperatures...
Just replace it, I can almost guarantee you that its your problem.

i just turn my car on and let it idle for like 2 minutes before i start driving it in the morning. when i drive it i drive it like a granny and shifts like at 2.5k until it warms up.
I know it's ghetto, but try a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator...but leave some room where the fan is. Even with a new thermostat, on really cold days this was the only way my other crx would make any heat. But definitely try a new thermostat first!
I have a koyo and only takes 5-10 min. but ive noticed it doesnt blow out "hot" unless im driving....if im just sitting at a red light or just in idle it blows cool....any ideas on that anyone lol
last night it was around 11 degrees here in Mi and my car warmed up after about 3 min. of idling and i drove about 3 miles....after that the heat was blowing hot enough to cook an egg with..and my temp gauge never makes it to half way
i've had an 87 and a 91 take forever like 10-15 minutes in 10 degree but my ex takes only 5 to 10 in the same degree or less.

something wrong with gauge??
something wrong with gauge??
snope....my cooling fan is hard wired to the ignition also....even during the summer w/ the fan off it never makes it past half way....only actual "problems" with my car are a code 1 that i cant shake and a bad wheel bearing
My LS/Vtec was running very cold here in Iowa......it has been below 20 degrees for months except for a few days, but most nights when I get off work its in the single digits or negitive teampatures.
I put a toggle switch on my fan, and I dont think I have turned on my fan since november, and I dont even get above 1/4 most of the time on my temp guage.
