Default need fast help, cooling prob

i was driving my 90 crx dx this morning and the following happened. there was not heat comeing out at all from the fan. the engine started to over heat so i shut it off. removed the radiatior cap and coolant shot prolly 6 feet in the air. i replaced the thermostat 2 days ago becuz this happened before. the car was running like junk before i shut it off. i put some fluid in and drove it 5 miles or so and no overheating but still no heat. plz help me its cold out

look under the passenger side under the dash there is a rod that opens the flap to let the air thru the heater core. they break over time, just pull on the rod to allow the flap to open this has happened on 2 of the ef's I have had, just turn it the other way in the summer when you dont need heat
