Default h22 wont pass 6500

for some reason, my h22 wont rev past 6500. i know redlines at 7500.
anyone else ever have this experience??

the rpms just stopped at6500 through 1st and 2nd, it feels as if i was hitting the rev limiter.

Also i heard "bangs" likes the sound of a gunshot..but that could just be my little hole in my exhaust pipe/ restrictive twinloop muffler.

was it warmed up all the way? meaning, had the temp gauge moved up at all? (when the t-stat opens) Also check your oil level

dude... if your p13 rev limits at 6500, the ecu is in limp mode, because of a trouble code!! and i just bet your check engine light is on...

read and do this:
http://www.superhonda.com/foru...44813

write back and tell us which codes come up.

1. It's limp mode cause you have a cell code...

2. Check your oil. You might be running low...

possibly clean your vtec solenoid, the screen may be clogged.

ur CEL light isn't on? Does it come on when u're about to start the car? If not than the lights broken. If it is on and u *don't* have a cel than look into things like grounds. I had a problem where my h22 redlined at 6500 rpm because of a loose ecu ground, but that was my case and might be a different case for u. But still something to look into.

make sure ur oil pressure/vtec solenoid are wired correctly, in my case i had them wired up, but backwards. there was NO CEL, and vtec would not open completely, thus red lining at 6500rpms. Believe it was the secondaries opening up, so you hear a slight roar where vtec is supposed to be.

You may not completely be in 'limp' mode if you have no cel.. if car runs fine jst until vtec, you definitely have a wiring issue, or like someone else said obove, your solenoid could be clogged. Just clean it to rule it out. Hope this helps!

as 93lxh22 said "what ecu do u have? when i had the p13 it did that and i was told to get a chipped ecu. so i got a chipped p28 in mine problem was fixed"

is this possible??

is there any easy way i can check the vtec wiring?...i honestly have no idea as to what it even looks like

would my vtec wiring be incorrect if all i did was a timing belt swap?
i have the standard h22a1 btw..no swap, so im assuming my ecu is a p13

You should be able to drive it still, but maybe a diagnostic tool will let you know what's going on better...?

thanks for the info everyone

will a diagnostic tool show my exact problem? even without having my CEL light pop up??

*noob question* but is there anyway to check if my ecu is really malfunctioned?
and are there any other alternatives instead of getting another p13?

called the local Honda for the hell of it and they said a new p13 would run me $954.55

JPR motor inc. says theyll sell me a JDM p13 for $250

i have a USDM H22a1.
Will the JDM p13 plug and play without a tune? is vtec sitll at 5200?

JDM ecu's have rev limiters on them don't they? or is that just h23s? (P14s)

You should stick to usdm. and stick to exact model numbers as your proper* ecu should be!

Try to buy a cheap one P13($100) (it will work if you get it from right person off
H-T) If the same problem persists than its not your ecu.

Don't buy from the stealership!!!! H-t has somewhat of a marketplace.

Its not your ecu though I wouldn't think. But like I said, 100 dollars will let you know. And its always good to have an extra ecu kicking around to perhaps socket, and try different tuning chips (good ones, lol if there are any) by a quick swap of ecu's.

Its probably a sensor. So you've jumpered your little blue connector in the center of your dash, and your not getting any check engine light? The engine light should come on, but will blink if theres a cel. Some Cels don't come on unless you check for them. IF your engine light never comes on while starting up than your ecu might be fu*ked!!
