Default SRS Light Is on.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the SRS light? Mine came on and It won't go off. I have removed the Negative connection on the battery for about 30 minutes and the light is still on. Do I need to have the Air Bag Replaced?

I had that problem when I got my civic. I belive they said it was a control modual but I now have an aftermarket wheel and I disconnected the other one so it dosn't matter anymore. but If you want to replace that part its expensive. I would figure out a way to cover it from behind your gauges. Hope I could help

Thanks. I would think that there has to be some type of affordable fix . The car is only a 94. Anyone else have another solution

It happened on my 95 Odyssey last week too.

The following procedure is from Honda's Service Manual for my car:

First of all, use the check engine error code procedure to check the SRS error code (same procedure but SRS light will be blinking this time.) If it's a 5-long 1-short, use following procedure to clear the code.

1. Located the "clear memory lead" for the SRS system. In my car it's two grey wire with yellow plastic shield; located under the driver side dash, kind of recessed.
2. Short the two terminals, I used a paper clip
3. Turn the key to ON (II) position. The SRS light will come up.
4. Remove the paper clip WITHIN 4 seconds.
5. The SRS light will die away.
6. Short the two terminals again, WITHIN 4 seconds.
7. The SRS light will come up again.
8. Remove the paper clip WITHIN 4 seconds.
9. The SRS light will die away, then flash twice to indicate the the memory was clear.
10. Now turn off your key and turn on again to see the light goes off in 6 seconds as normal.

I don't have the manual around so I'm not sure about the terms and the exact sequence of the SRS light on and off sequence. Post again if you need exact details and I'll reply by tomorrow.

Good luck.
