EF guys Stock crossmember? possible downpipe? Which way to run the turbo
hey guys I've been looking around on the forum for awhile now and I just can't seem to find the right answers to some of my questions. I have a 91 CRX si with a jdm b16a with hasportmounts. I have been piecing together a turbo kit for a little over 6 months and now that I am getting closer then ever I really just need the answers to a few question I'm going to run a old inline pro log style manifold with a garrett t3 t4 57trim 63ar. before i boost it I need to no a few things hopefully you guys will be able to help me out without yelling SEARCH at me. any help would be much appricated.
1,will I be able to get a downpipe made for my car without running a aftermarket crossmember or notching the crossmember? If notching how safe is it? how much to cut out.
2.What size piping would I be able to run safely? 3, 2 1/2?
3. which way would be easier to run the downpipe. With the exhaust side of the turbo facing the driverside or the passenger side.
hopefully boosted one of these days .... chris

I ran a 3inch DP on the passenger side with a stock crossmember on my old EF.
Which side you should put it on really depends on your manifold selection, some place it too far out depending on which way the turbine is oriented.

Compressor on the drivers side would make the turbine offset away from the block, and vice versa.
Depending on which way you want it to face, the offset may place the turbo too far out from the block, or too close to it, depending on where the turbo flange is located in the engine bay.
Make sense?
yea that makes sense. So you think i could run my turbo with the exhuast housing facing the passenger side running a stock crossmember, without notching the crossmember correct?

I have a 2.5 inch exit facing passenger side, and I already had my front mount cut off the cross member, if It was'nt I don't think it'd fit to well.
Your more then likely gonna lose your windshield washer fluid resevoir. O well though its all in the name of "BOOST"
