I am semi-retiring the R from the streets and am in the process of converting it into an Auto X'er. I will be attacking Tsukuba circuit in March and August, and possibly Fuji circuit somethime between.
So because of this, and other reasons as well, I needed a second car. Something a bit more practical than the R but not boring and underpowered. So I got a Subaru Forester Cross Sport 2.0T. I wanted the STi but the woman refuses to drive a six speed, so we compromised and got one with a clutchless sequential shifter (aka sport mode
)
Specs so far:
-2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo boxer engine (a detuned JDM WRX STi engine)
-STi Sports muffler
-17" BBS aluminum wheels
- Bridgestone Potenza RE-011 tires
So here is the new beater....not the most beautiful thing in the world, but it will blow the doors of a lot unsuspecting ricers.A nice little sleeper.

Yeah its been a while.
I just ordered about $2000 in parts (mostly carbon fiber stuff) I also had to get a racing suit, shoes, helmet, and gloves so its getting costly.
I probably won't do anything with the Subie for awhile. But I joined a Forester forum and there are write ups on how to make the Cross Sports faster than an Impreza Sti for less than $1000. Pretty good stuff. The car has a lot of potential.

gagsta' style.

Great for beater in daily & winter. I just still can't put my hand with Scubby product with their ugliness even how many times they tried in changing facials.
mint daily beator man, these are so much nicer/faster/refined than the old forester.. the sti one is a real head turner but least it might be a bit safer in terms of theift if that exists in japan. im sure it wouldnt be hard to get it as quick

The differences between the STi and the Cross Sports are the engine (2.0L vs 2.5L), the transmission, breaks, and the interior trim. There are other details like a taller hood scoop and some small differences to the suspension. Otherwise the performance is about the same. The 2.5L liter engine is the same as the engine that they use on the Legacy and the USDM Impreza STi's, but the 2.0L engine is much more easier and less expensive upgrade in Japan. It can be easily upgraded to 350hp with very little cash.
I probaby won't touch the Forester too much; its suppose to be a grocery getter not a racer. \maybe at most, I'll updgrade the intercooler to and STi one, but my main focus will be on my R.

All parts are used:
-bigger turbo $200 to $400 (depending on size and condition)
-STi intercooler $150 to $300
-STi ECU + tuning $400 -$500
-Hood scoop $100
-STi exhaust $200 to $300 (I already have this)
All this with proper tuning pretty much yields about 320hp to 360hp....stock Forester STi is 265hp
