Default Honda Titanium replacement bolts.

We have a customer who owns an s2000. Well is is consumed with getting the car as light as possible without removing anything. So he comes in today with a box full of bolts. He had all his oe bolts copied in titanium and wants us to replace nearly every bolt on the car. There was a noticable weight difference with each bolt. Here are a couple pics of just a few of them.

OE are on the left and titanium are on the right.

never underestimate people with money to waste. This guy is a poker player/gambler by trade. I guess he must win more than he loses, unlike me.

I totaly could see someone doing this , back when I used to race motocross you could by full TI bolt kits for your bike , and it saved alot of weight over the stock bolts and axles , and only cost around 300 bucks at the time.

Dang, that is some money. What bolts is he all trying to replace? Suspension, motor mounts, etc?

Hopefully none of them are too important because I would think that would send the proper torque specs out the window being a different material and hardness.

it looks like the heads of the bolts are different sizes too. that would really **** me off having to keep changing sockets back and for to swap out bolts to save like 2 grams. haha

The heads are smaller by a couple mm. He is replacing most every bolt under the hood, suspension, and driveline. Even the starter bolts(pictured)

He might have a source to TI scrap. At my old job there was a ton of TI that went to the scrap yard, combined with unlimited machining equipment and machinist that were bored....you can make anything for pretty cheap.

Man, really...you can save more weight by shitting out some terds before you race..

Waste of time in my opinion...but then again sounds like he wipes his *** with 100 dollar bills! So more power to him... To each his own haha..

You guys act like this would cost a million dollars or something.

We've all throw plenty of money away on bullshit in our lives. This guy has a goal and he's working towards it. If Ti bolts were so ridiculous then most high end race cars wouldn't use them. Believe it or not, Ti bolts can safe a pretty good amount of weight over steel bolts when done in qty.

At least he's not buying crack or something...

I can understand if its a full out race car and your trying to save every weight down the gram. But for a street driven car, its very impractical. But yes i do agree and admit we all spent and wasted money on stupid crap at one time or another. At least hes not buying some Ninja flying, mutated-dragon body kit...well i least hope not...especially on s2k. haha

But im curious to see how much the weight actually is all together compared to the Ti ones...

I confess, first honda i bought was a 4th gen lude back in 2001, first mod i did was Altezza lights! ouch...

I wonder how much weight he will end up losing. I personally dont have the cash to do it but I'm interested in seeing the final results.

Pretty expensive....Would suck if you got ur car stolen after putting all these Ti bolts on...Theives be going after your parts, not knowing the Ti bolts are worth more then half the basic aftermarket bolt ons you put on...lol

Wonder if insurance would insure your Ti bolts?
