Honda suspension/brake help, swap to non honda platform.
Hi folks,
I've read a lot in the FAQ, but some of the info is not at general enough of a level for my needs.
Long story short, I'm swapping a B16a into my 1961 Morris mini. I plan on building to SCCA D-Mod specs for the most part. Vtec swaps into minis isn't something new, its been done, and I'm fairly confident I can deal with all that stuff.
As long as I'm going to the trouble of creating a new front subframe for the car, I thought I might as well adopt honda front suspension, hubs and brakes.
So what I need is brake info, that probably is from models that aren't quite as popular with you folks.
I need a setup, where the brakes can fit into a 13 inch wheel. In terms of the suspension, I may need something that is of a narrower track.
Bottom line is I'm trying to build it to have parts that are a little bit easier to find at your neighborhood parts store. Nothing is more fun that waiting for a boat load of parts to come from england
I'd rather not have a mix and match of parts from different generation cars, if I can avoid it.
I know the 13 inch wheel thing is a bummer, but in terms of space on the car for wheels and tires, it makes the most sense. However keep in mind, its only going to weigh 1250lbs, and that is because I'll have to add ballast weight.
In terms of rear suspension, I'm going to keep the stock mini setup, but I'd like to adopt honda hubs in the back....what are the more common spindle sizes?
Any help you might be able to offer me would be appreciated. Any other links towards honda suspension and brake tuning would also be helpful.
Thank you.
