What are the options for license plate bulbs? I would like something that resembles a "white" light like the new Lexus's has. Very bright and nice looking if you haven't noticed.
The brighter light will bring my midori paint out from the rear at night

there 2 different ways to do it..
led or a blue tinted bulb
if its an led... not all leds are the same, and you get what you pay for...
i got a pair of SMT leds that point to the sides not down like the one in the ebay link..
choose the right one, and take a look at how the bulb is mounted.
i got mine from vleds.. a lil more expensive...

what i meant by a led on the sides.. i meant one side XD
its an IC with the SMT led mounted on one side.. so if you put it in.. it points up or down...
however depending on how the bulb goes into the holder... (ie, holder is on top of the housing or holder is on the side of the housing) you have to choose the right one..
cause in the end, you only want the light to point down...
the blue tinted bulbs, are normally slightly hotter... so even tho they are tinted... they are the same brightness or brighter...

i just replaced mine about a week ago with piaa led's and there pretty bright i'll try and put up pics later on tonight.
If the civic uses a 168/194 style bulb, you might be able to fit a 921 style bulb in its place. They are much brighter and have the same base. I managed to fit one into the plate light on my 01 Prelude and it is much brighter. It wouldn't fit in the normal way though, I had to unscrew the plastic cover and put it in from the bottom.
Its worth a try... a two pack is only a buck or two. Never know where you might be able to fit them either. I put the other one in my trunk light and it made a big difference over that crap 168 bulb.

The 92-95 Civic uses 168 so I was told.

Brighter is better as long as it's safe on the cars wiring
What do you mean by "might be able to fit"

You lost me with the way you had to "fit it in". With the Civic there is 1 way to mount the bulb to the plastic holder & 1 way to mount the holder to the light housing
Here is a 92-95 Civic license plate housing / bulb which is mounted directly above the plate:

Some of the technical discussion is making no sense to me
Lighting is not really my specialty, so I still need some recommendations based on the holder / housing I posted for my car.
I did look at "SMT leds" and they are very pricey. I was looking at the automotive bulbs and they range from $15 to well over $20 each. I'd rather not spend $30-40 on license plate lights if I do not have to. Some are saying the ebay ones are nice as well. But, which ones when you have 1,200 items for "168 led white"
lol
Thanks again for any help.... and YES I will post pics of whichever lights I decide to go with

Have you notice how bright the newer Lexus license lights are? Most likely all of the new Lexus have the bulbs, but I noticed 2 E330's with the really nice and bright license lights. If you have seen them how do the bulbs in your link compare?
Any pics of yours at night?
Thanks!

Let say at night, with them on... the bumper leaves a shadow...
i don't have pics, but those are a lot better than their single ones with a cone...
I also have one in my dome light... pretty bright, tho i think its a lil too blue for the inside...

i'll try and get pics... but its still bright outside >.>

well i certainly know that the lexus license plate light is not led they are call ccfl not led because led will die out and started to blink after awhile. because i have a lexus and a integra. they're the ccfl tube lights that were use inside lighting of your computer tower. here read about it here and you can get the ccfl tubes at coolerguys.com for about $15 for a pair. i'll post up some pics.

I just got my wedge tip LED in the mail today and stuck in the license plate of my 00 accord. It looks great! and the lighting is 3x better than the stock halogen bulb.
