Default Cleaning an ITR?

Just wanted to know what products you fellow ITR owners use to clean your cars (car soap, clay bar, wax, polish, swirl remover, etc.) Any advice on washing and waxing would help too! Thanks!

If your lucky enough to know someone who works at a car dealer or car detailing shop, I would get them to score you some CarBrite products.... they are very, very good.. problem is they do not sell to the general public.

I use different brands, depending on what I'm trying to do. I've found that no one brand is best for everything. Here's what I use; I consider item numbers 1, 3, 5, and 6 essential, and item numbers 2, 4, and 7 optional for special situations.

1. For washing, either Meguiars Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner:

or Zymol Clear:

2. If the surface of the finish gets really rough (you can feel this by lightly running your fingers across it), Clay Magic:

3. For routine (twice a year) removal of oxidation and tire marks and such, Zymol HD-Cleanse, which is not physically abrasive:

4. For swirl marks or anything that doesn't come off with the HD-Cleanse and needs something that is slightly abrasive, Meguiars No. 9 Swirl Remover:

5. For protecting the paint, every three months or so, Zymol Japon wax:

6. For protecting the interior (dash, inside door panels, etc) with a nice satiny sheen, Zymol Vinyl:

7. For spot cleaning (like an isolated bird poop), Meguiars Quik Detailer:

You can find Meguiars products at many auto parts stores and Target. You can order Zymol or Clay Magic direct from the manufacturer's website or from Emmons Coachworks, or you can find your local Zymol dealer here.

LOL... To be honest, I seldom wash my ITR, unless the kids get really irritated and wash it themselves.
George, I wish I had the luxury of having the kids wash my R. Maybe in about 10-15 years I'll have some kids old enough to wash it for me

I almost gave up because i own 00 FBP. U see every damm scratches and swirl. I try all kind of swirl removal and its never goes away because u can alway see it on certain angle of light conditions. I bought all kind of Japanese black color dedicated cleaned, 3800micron cleaner, wax and etc from carmate and so on.
I all just cover it up hair scratches, never make then go away.
Oh well, life goes on because i do love my R, just hate the maintence of blk.
I had a 97 CW before and other red color cars and never have so much headache in cleaning.

All the above is correct, just make sure you spray the car down with some sort of Quik detailer before you use the clay bar.

Waxing is a pain in the *** if you ask me.

I use Meguiar's most of the time.....

Do yourself a favor and invest in a good RANDOM ORBITAL BUFFER. Don't get a rotary one - you will burn the clearcoat and make swirlmarks if you don't know what you are doing.

Buffers cut waxing time in about 1/2.

Mequiars Gold Class for everything but the wheels and engine, then Simple Green.
