question on the b18 type r.... any help would be good
well i have a 94 hb with a b16a motor in it with a lsd tranny, i wanted to go up and go to a b18 and then i saw b18 type r. what is the differnce betwen them, what kinda boast can the type r take before i have to change out the internals, is it the same as the b18. and would i need to trade out the tranny, i just got the lsd and i really dont want to, anyways thanks for the help
type r are more expensive then b16a. type r has 1800cc displacments, higher compressions. more aggresive cams. stronger valve springs, retainers.better flow intake manifold and 62mm TB. and has 200hp
usdm b16a has 160 hp and jdm b16a has 170hp both have 1600cc displacement and have 60mm TB.

DO NOT BUY A TYPE R MOTOR if you going TURBO!!!!
it defeats the purpose.
type r = high compression motor all motor.
turbo motor= low compression
if your going to replace internals just get a gsr same engine block.
only difference between gsr & type r are that the r has high compression pistons, higher lift intake cam(on vtec) and dual valve springs with a mild port to the head.
