Default Cometic .074" head gasket. Are they reliable?

I jsut got mine and damn it's heavy. I am just blown away by how thick it is. It's a monster. Are they reliable? I need to keep my compression down in the 11.2:1 range. It just seems to think to be reliable.

I used that exact model....I did have a small coolant leak but it didn't matter because I just used it to lower the compression so that I could run the stock ECU to pass emissions testing. After that I put the stock gasket back on until the next emission test 2 years later (which is due in about 2 months)

i running the .051 right now and havent had any problems in 6 months, well only around 3-4000 miles on it though. make sure each mating surface is perfectly clean and flat. if there is any old gasket left from what i seen they dont like to seal well
