Over the last few months our 95 Accord EX with 95,000 miles has had about 5 separate instances in which it turns over but doesn't start.
We've changed the spark plugs and the distributor cap and yesterday am it did it again. I tried it three times throughout the day with the same results. But this morning it started right up. This is similar to how it has previously behaved. Sometimes it takes a couple of days or so before it starts up.
Oh and it was parked in our garage and last driven on Friday (sat over the weekend and Monday).

Any ideas what is causing this and how it can be fixed?

Always search the forums first . Do you smell fuel when it doesnt start? Any CEL's? Most likley the fuel pump relay or sometimes called the main relay located underneath drivers side kick panel.

 

I tried to search first, sorry. (not mechanically inclined, just trying my best)

Yes, I do smell gas. No CELs.

Would it then still be the fuel tank relay?

When it doesnt start, does it just crank over consistantly or does it fire up and die real fast? You try giving gas while cranking it? Try to check for fuel and spark when it doesnt want to start.
Fuel pump realy controls the pump... so if u smell fuel than thats not it.

 

It just cranks over constantly. It never starts then quickly dies. I've tried giving it gas while cranking too.

So not the fuel pump relay then, thanks.

I wish I could have had someone check for a spark/fuel yesterday, I'm sure that would have helped.

Any more suggestions?

 

Im still leaning towards that relay or distributor... but its all about what the engine is not getting, fuel or spark. Ive seen valve covers leaking oil on the distributor and leaking into the spark plug holes causing it not to start.
