I have done it from LA a few times, but since you are in NYC, there should be plenty over there. Look in the Phonebook's Yellow Pages under "Freight Forwarders" Shop around & Check them out before you use them. Go with the bigger companies with good repurations only. You get what you pay for!!!

Also, make sure you check with the Embassy/Consulate of the Country you will be shipping the car to since you will need all the proper documents. Some countries it is a big hassle, while others it is easy.

The best way to ship is in a private 20 ft container, if you only have 1 car. More expensive this way, but less potential for damage and theft. Some times, the shipping company can share 40 ft containers with 2 big cars or 4 smaller cars (stacked on top of another) or even 6 cars in a double height 40 ft. They build ramps inside the container and secure the cars don't move and cover the cars in the bottom with plastic, in case of leaks from the car on top.

Cars are safer from theft & damage, if it's locked in the container until it gets to Customs in the other end. The cheaper alternative is not even worth it. Hope that helps. Good Luck.
